Who can recall our previous lesson? Our previous lesson

Anyone? Yes, Ms. Caranzo was all about
Performing
Estimation

Verygood! In Farming, What are the things needed to We estimate farm

be estimate? Mr. Salinas inputs and labor
requirements ma’am

Exactly!
So why estimation in farming is important? It is necessary to
Ms. Pico, estimate farm inputs
and labor
requirements to save
money, time and
effort.

Very Well Said.

In doing/performing Estimation of farm inputs and
labor requirements can help us to manage our
expenses and how we utilized our farm inputs with the
right amount/quantity to be applied.
Through estimation, we are becoming transparent in
important things as well to manage our farm correctly.

Any more question? None ma’am

I’m glad that you have learned from our previous

I expect everybody to please participate in the activities Yes ma’am

that will be given to you later on.

LESSON PROPER
Let us now proceed to our lesson which is about
performing basic calculation.

CALCULATION
It is important to measure and calculate surface areas.
It might be necessary to calculate the surface area of a
farm to determine the specific measure of a particular
shape of a field.

This section will discuss the calculation of some of the

most common surface areas of the field:
1. TRIANGLE
2. RECTANGLE
3. SQUARE
4. CIRCLE
These common surfaces will be discussed briefly to
analyze the method used in calculating the area of the
surface.
Later on i will show you the formula and the correct
method on how to calculate the area of each surfaces.

(Insert Powerpoint Presentation)

1. (Triangle)

2. (Rectangle)

3. (Square)

4. (Circle)

The most common surface areas illustrated: 1. TRIANGLE

(students were task to read) The height (h) of a
triangle is the
distance from a top
corner to the
opposite side called
base (b).
The height is always perpendicular to the base; in
other words, the height makes a “right angle” with
the base. 2. RECTANGLE
& SQUARE
In the case of a
square and a
rectangle, the
expression length (l)
is commonly used
instead of base and
width (w) instead of
height.

The square and rectangle are both expressed in

length and width.

3. CIRCLE
In the case of a
circle, expression
diameter (d) is used.
The height (h), base (b), width (w), length (l), and
diameter (d) are the expression used in common
surface areas.

D. Discussing new EXPLORE

concepts and Now, before we proceed to the application proper, always
practicing new skills remember the differences of the surface areas when it
#1 comes to calculation.
Here are the examples on how to calculate the different
surface areas using the correct method of computation.

E. Discussing new (student we’re assigned to read) (Mr. Salvador Reading)

concepts and  TRIANGLE
practicing new skills 1. TRIANGLE The surface area or
#1 surface (A) of a triangle
is calculated by the
formula:

(A (triangle)= 0.5 x base

x height
(=0.5 x b x h)
EXAMPLE:
Calculate the surface area of the triangle no 1.
(students we’re taking
Given: base=25cm notes)
height=20cm

formula: A=0.5 x base x height

= 0.5 x 25cm x 20cm
A= 12.5 x 20
A= 250cm2
(Ms. Damagan reading)
2. RECTANGLE & SQUARE  RECTANGLE &
SQUARE
The surface area (A) of
a rectangle and square
is calculated by the
same formula:
Note that in a square
the length and width
are equal and in
rectangle are not.

Formula:
(A (rectangle/square)=
Length x Width
(A=L x W)

EXAMPLE: (students we’re taking

Calculate the surface area of the rectangle no 1. notes)

Given: Length=25cm
Width= 20cm

Formula: A=Length x Width

A=25cm x 20 cm
A= 500cm2

(students we’re taking

Calculate the surface area of square no 1. notes)
Note: length and width are equal

Given: Length=105cm
Width= 105cm

Formula: A=Length x Width

A=105cm x 105 cm
A= 11,025cm2
(Ms. Caranzo reading)
The surface area (A) of
 CIRCLE a circle is calculated by
the formula:

A (Circle)= ¼ ( π x d 2)
A= 0.25 (3.14 x d x d)

EXAMPLE:
Calculate the surface area of a circle with a diameter of
3cm.

Given: d=3m (meter)

Formula: A= ¼ ( π x d 2)
A= 0.25 (3.14 x d x d)
A= 0.25 (28.26)
A= 7.06cm2
Yes ma’am

Did you follow the method of computation?

F. Developing Mastery EXPLAIN

In Performing calculation, it is necessary to consider the

surface area to be calculate as well as to follow the correct
method or using the right formula is very important to
ensure that the particular task we’re performed and
execute correctly.

Here are the things you need to consider:

1. Identify the specific surface area to be calculate.

2. Analyze the method briefly particular on how to

perform calculation

3. Apply the correct method in performing

calculation.

4. Check the output thoroughly for better application

of learning.
