Q4. A three-phase load (S̄3φ ) at bus j is supplied from a generator at bus i through two regulating transformers 4
(T1 , T2 ). Total impedance of the two transformers referred to the H.V. side is z̄. If P1φ + jQ1φ is the per
phase power drawn at bus j, assuming the product of off-nominal tap ratios α and β is unity, and
neglecting the phase shift between V̄i0 and V̄j0 as an approximation, prove that

Q6. Single-line diagram of a two-bus power system and its positive sequence impedance bus matrix (Z1 ) are
given below. Sequence reactance of each circuit of the transmission line are: X1 = X2 = 0.5 pu, X0 = 1.5
pu. Reactance of T1 and T2 is 0.08 pu each. Positive, negative and zero sequence reactance of G1 and
G2 are: X1 = X2 = 0.02 pu, X0 = 0.05 pu, Xn = 0.02 pu. A line-to-ground fault with impedance j0.01
pu occurs on one of circuits of line 1-2 at a distance 60% from bus 1, as shown in the figure (marked as
pseudo-bus 3). Before the occurrence of fault, system was unloaded, and voltage at all buses were 1.02 pu.
