Municipal Quiz Bee for Grade 6 Pupils

QUIZ BEE GUIDELINES
A. PARTICIPANTS
1. Each public or private elementary school in Bambang needs to choose its best (3) Grade
6 pupils as their entry/participants.
2. The contest is individual in nature.
B. SCOPE AND COVERAGE
1. The quiz bee shall cover general information. The questions shall be from Grade 5 core
subjects such as English, Filipino, Science, Math, and Araling Panlipunan.
2. The contest shall be in two (2) rounds, the elimination and the final round.
3. The elimination round shall be a written test participated by all the registered
participants.
4. The final round shall also be a written test participated by the top 20 pupils who
succeeded in the elimination round.
5. The test questions from each round shall be randomly chosen by the committee. The test
questions are from the 2 questions from each core subject: English, Filipino, Science,
Math, and Araling Panlipunan which are submitted by the coaches.

C. ELIMINATION PHASE
1. The Elimination Phase is written in nature and shall be participated in by all the registered
pupils.
2. It shall be conducted on December 13, 2023, at the Municipal Gymnasium around 7:30 in
the morning.
3. There shall be forty (40) questions to be answered by the participants within forty (40)
minutes.
4. The Quiz Master shall distribute the test materials to the pupils. They shall wait for the
timekeeper to signal “GO” before answering.
5. After answering the test, they shall submit their answered test papers to the timekeeper.
The timekeeper shall indicate on their paper their time consumed in answering the test
or their rank whatever may be more practical for the timekeeper.
6. The test papers shall then be checked by the committee to identify the highest twenty
(20) participants to advance to the final round.

7. If ever there shall be a tie, the time consumed shall be considered to identify the qualifier.

D. FINAL PHASE
1. The Final Phase shall be conducted on the afternoon of December 13, 2023 at the
Municipal Auditorium.
2. The contestant shall be individually competing regardless of their school.
3. A Quiz Master, a timer, and a scorer shall be assigned to facilitate the contest.
4. The committee shall provide them with a whiteboard and marker for them to use to write
their answers.
5. There shall be three (3) rounds. The easy, average, and difficult rounds. There shall be five
(5) questions for each round. One (1) point shall be given to the easy round; two (2) points
for the average, and three (3) points for the difficult round.
6. The quiz master shall instruct the participants to raise their markers as he/she read the
word problem two times. The word problem shall also be flashed on the screen for the
contestants to see.
7. After the Quiz Master signal “GO”, the pupils shall write their answers on the
whiteboards. When the allotted time is over, the pupils shall be instructed to raise their
whiteboards. Failure to do so will signal a warning for the first offense and disqualification
for the second.
8. Any question or query about the correctness of the answers should be raised before the
start of the next question. No questions shall be entertained when the next question has
already been read.
9. The score of each participant shall be posted on the scoring board by the designated
scorer after every question before proceeding to the next.
10. After all the questions are given, the scorer shall add up the scores to determine the
highest scorer. In case of a tie for the first place, clincher questions shall be given.
11. Their score shall be ranked accordingly. The highest scorer shall be declared the
champion.
E. DECLARATION OF WINNERS
1. The highest scorer shall be announced the Grand Champion and shall be awarded a gold
medal, and a cash prize.
2. The second, third, fourth, and fifth place shall be announced as runners-up respectively,
and shall be awarded medals and cash prizes.

3. The sixth to tenth place shall be announced as finalists and shall be awarded a certificate
of participation and consolation prizes.
