Philippine Theatrical Performances in terms of form and content
of story.

What is theater? Theater is a collaborative form of


fine arts that uses live
performance, typically actors or
actresses, to present the
experienced of real or imagined
event in a specific place on stage.
In other words, dramatic arts
concerned with live performances in
which the action is precisely planned
to create a coherent and significant
sense of drama.
Theater comes from the ancient
Greek word “theatron” which
means a place of viewing and
“theaomai” which means to see, to
watch or observe.

Greek Theater - European theater
began in Ancient Greece. It began
around 700 B.C, with festivals
honoring their many gods. One
God, Dionysus, with a religious
festival called, The Cult of
Dionysus, to honor Dionysus (Di-
on-i-sus), the god of wine and
fertility. The city-state of Athens
was the center of significant
cultural, political, and military
power during this period, where
the festivals and competitions
were usually performed.
