Notes # 4.2: Prepositions (Across, Over, Up, Down, At, From, Among)

Preposition - a word or set of words that indicates location, direction, time, or some

other relationship between a noun or pronoun and other parts of the


sentence.

Object of the preposition - a noun, noun phrase, or pronoun that follows a


preposition and completes its meaning.
Examples:

In this lesson, we will be learning the proper usage of the following prepositions:
Across At At
From Among
Over Across
Up Over As Preposition of Time
Down
As Preposition of Place
As Preposition of Direction

I. Preposition of Direction
It shows where something / someone is going or shows the way in which something
is done.

II. Preposition of Place


A preposition which is used to refer to a place where something or someone is
located.

A preposition that allows you to discuss a specific time period such as a date on
the calendar, one of the days of the week, or the actual time something takes
place
