Introduction

Nature and Importance of the Study

Chicken Meat has been a part of all human-being. It has been one of the

most favored protein that us human intake every day. One readily accessible source of

high-quality protein and other nutrients required for proper bodily function is chicken meat.

The Chicken meat is for simplest preparation and it gives many foodstuffs (Vercelli, 2012)

and (Nowotny, 2019). It is also favorite of many. Apart from protein, chicken is a good source of
vitamins and minerals, including B vitamins (B6 and B12), phosphorus, and selenium.
These nutrients are essential for bone health, antioxidant defense, and energy
metabolism. Also, Chicken is frequently less expensive than certain other meat sources,
making it a protein option that is accessible to a diverse group of individuals. Its
extensive usage and popularity are partly attributed to its cheap.

The Oregano (Origanum vulgare) is one such possible feed supplement that has been

utilized historically as a natural food spice and conservative in Mediterranean countries

from antiquity. In addition, it is may be thought of as a functional element with promise

for widespread application in animal feeding (Giannenas et al., 2018). Besides Using
oregano extracts in chicken diets may have several benefits, such as increased feed
intake and conversion, better digestion, increased productivity, decreased disease
incidence, and reduced financial losses (Alagawany et al., 2018). Also, it is culinary spice
and a well-known traditional medication are oregano. Additionally, it is effective as a
poultry feed supplement to strengthen immunity and improve the growth performance
of birds (Jin et al., 2021).

Chicken and Oregano is good for our health it give us many vitamins. Oregano

is abundant in phenolic compounds with antioxidant and immune-boosting properties,

such as thymol and carvacrol, among other phytochemical substances. Besides Using oregano
extracts in chicken diets may have several benefits, such as increased feed intake and
conversion, better digestion, increased productivity, decreased disease incidence, and reduced
financial losses (Alagawany et al., 2018). The immune system of the chicken may be supported
by the immuno-stimulating qualities of oregano, possibly lowering the danger of illnesses.
According to some research, adding oregano to a chicken's diet may improve its growth
performance, including its feed conversion ratio and weight increase.

Why we used Oregano as feed supplements? Oregano is herb that strengthen the immune
system of the chicken so they can harvest early. This study aim to efficacy of Oregano Plant as
protein diet of chicken for accelerated harvest. It is also evaluate of effectiveness of Oregano.

Objectives of the Study

This investigatory study aims to check the effectiveness of Oregano as a
Feed supplement of chicken for accelerated harvest.

CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Oregano

Oregano is a plant that has been grown for particularly inside the Mediterranean

area, however currently, it is present in most continents. As for the word oregano
approximately means "mountain joy." which helps to explain why ancient Greeks
associated it in part and happy and joyful Romans. Actually, there are multiple species of
oregano rather than just one. That could influence the oregano used in cooking
objectives. Origanum vulgare, commonly known as Spanish wild marjoram and thyme,
an organism in the plant family The spice kind that is typically sold is Lamiaceae
(Labiatae). As oregano in the United States and Europe (2010 Lippincott Williams &
Wilkins)

Oregano is the popular word for a flavor and aroma that are often generated

from a large number of plant taxa and species that are used as spices throughout

the world. Under the name oregano, at least 61 species from 17 genera and

six families have been identified; the Verbenaceae and Lamiaceae families

are the most significant (Kintzios, 2012). Oregano has been found to have

a high level of terpenes and total phenolics, and it may also have potential

as an antioxidant substance (Chrpová et al., 2010; Kogiannou et al., 2013; Zheng and Wang,
2001).

Composition and convenient of Oregano. Oregano is the spices come from a

variety of plant types. The most popular are the Lippia, which is native to Mexico,

and the genus Origanum, which is native to Europe. The most significant ingredients

found in Origanum species include limonene, b-cariofilene, r-cymenene,

canfor, linalol, a-pinene, carvacrol, and thymol. The identical chemicals can be

found in the genus Lippia. The species, climate, altitude, period of memory,

and growth stage all affect the composition of oregano. Due to the increased

interest in replacing common synthetic chemicals found in food, several of the qualities

of this plant's extracts are currently being researched. In addition to having

strong antibacterial properties against pathogenic germs including Salmonella

typhimurium, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus

epidermidis, among others, oregano has a good antioxidant capacity.

All of these are intriguing qualities (Arcila-Lozano, n.d.).

Effectiveness of Oregano. When compared to other synthetic chemicals,

Origanum vulgare is a natural feed supplement for chickens that is less harmful

and leaves no residue. Important bioactive ingredients found in it include carvacrol

and thymol. Oh. vulgare possesses antibacterial, antioxidant, antiviral, immunomodulatory,

and antiparasitic properties when added to poultry feed. Using oregano extracts

in chicken diets may have several benefits, such as increased feed intake and

conversion, better digestion, increased productivity, decreased disease incidence,

and reduced financial losses. According to the literature now accessible, broiler

diets containing an average of up to 600 mg/kg of oregano essential oil

resulted in greater body weight gain. The feed conversion ratio and feed

utilization of broiler diets were enhanced by the addition of 1% oregano oil.

Moreover, when combined with attapulgite at a ratio of 15 mg/kg of oregano,

oregano can significantly improve the intestinal microbiota and

ileal villus height in broilers. When broilers are given 300 parts per million of

oregano oil in their diet, their IgG titres are higher than when they are
given a control diet (no supplements). The ideal amount of oregano supplementation per kg of
feed seems to be 240 mg for preventing C in broiler chickens. infections with
Perfringens. Bioactive elements taken out of O. At quantities of 10 to 30 g/kg, vulgare
components could be included in chicken diets. Information regarding O's use is included
in this review. vulgare and its byproducts in the diet of fowl. Because oregano has no
adverse effects and leaves no residues behind, it can be utilized as a natural substitute
for antibiotics and medications to increase the total productivity of chickens (Alagawany
et al., 2018).

Chicken

Chicken are descended from Southeast Asian jungle fowl nowadays. It is likely that
domestication originated approximately 10,000 years ago when people began to enjoy
the violent show of cockfighting. Champion fighters and the flocks of chickens that
inextricably followed them were probably doubt encouraged to remain near the human
settlement. This arrangement would have benefited these early hens, who would have
had access to grain, food leftovers, and a variety of invertebrates that inhabit the area
around a town in addition to having some protection from their natural predators.
Furthermore, being gregarious birds, they probably would have gotten along well with
their new "keepers," improving their adaptation to the human world with each passing
generation. It must have eventually dawned on our ancestors as well how well birds
turned their food sources into eggs and meat. As a result, chickens eventually shaped
the landscape and, in fact, the civilization; evidence even suggests that they were soon
employed for therapeutic and spiritual purposes. Chickens would have most likely been
discovered living close to humans as they gathered in ever-larger numbers in fixed sites
over the course of the following several millennia. Generally speaking, they were merely
considered a convenient albeit informal source of meat and eggs, and only the ancient
Romans—in a characteristically bold manner—applied any sort of industrialized method
to raising them for food. However, it would take until the middle of the 20th century for
truly industrialized chicken farming and breeding to start (The Chicken, n.d.).

Chicken Meat/Poultry Meat

In order to ensure food security and meet the need for high-quality animal

protein, poultry meat is crucial. The increased demand for poultry meat has led to
a steady increase in global poultry production. A scientific and methodical approach to raising,
catching, transporting, inspecting, and processing poultry is important to provide high-
quality meat without inflicting needless suffering or stress on the animals. This sector is
well-liked and lucrative because of contact farming, automation, modern management
and breeding techniques, and the establishment of sizable processing facilities. The
poultry business will soon have to comply with mandatory requirements for the
traceability of poultry meat and the proper observance of animal welfare rules (Kumaet
al., 2022).

Based on my article that I’ve read Oregano, a spice from the Lippia and Origanum plant types,
contains essential compounds like limonene, b-cariofilene, r-cymenene, canfor, linalol, a-
pinene, carvacrol, and thymol. The composition of oregano is influenced by species,
climate, altitude, and growth stage. Its extracts are being researched for their
antibacterial properties and antioxidant capacity. While Poultry meat is crucial for food
security and high-quality animal protein, with global production increasing due to
increased demand. Scientific and methodical practices are essential for animal welfare.
The sector is profitable due to contact farming, automation, and modern breeding
techniques.
