Part 2: R&D Plan for my Future Project Dewdrops Garments Industry

Part 2: R&D Plan for Future Project DEWDROPS STYLE

Description of the Project Context, Problem & Goal:

A business plan is a foundational document for the future actions of a business venture.
Entrepreneurs use it as a roadmap for a successful enterprise. In the context of the Dewdrops
Style project, the vision is to provide high-quality garments at affordable prices in a welcoming
environment for consumers. The primary business policy is customer satisfaction with the
slogan, "you wear it well… World wears it well."

Project Context:

The partner organization for this improvement project is Dewdrops Style, a garment
manufacturing company located in Dhaka. Dewdrops Style primarily targets young adults and
professionals aged 20 to 40, aiming to provide stylish and comfortable clothing.

Related Problem:

The identified problem is the need for a more efficient and streamlined garment production and
inventory management system. The current system may result in inefficiencies, customer
dissatisfaction, and potential revenue loss due to suboptimal management practices.

Goal of the Project:

The goal is to enhance the production and inventory management system, ensuring a smoother
process for manufacturing and improving operational efficiency.

Decision-Makers in the Partner Organization:

As the Director of Dewdrops Style, I would be the key decision-maker for the implementation of
this project. The interest lies in optimizing the manufacturing operations, increasing customer
satisfaction, and maximizing revenue through improved inventory management.

Suitability of the Problem:

From the organization’s perspective, an efficient production and inventory management system
aligns with the goal of providing quality garments and maintaining customer satisfaction. From
my perspective, the project is suitable for completion within one year, given its scope and the
potential for significant impact on the organization.

Description of the Project Plan:

Step-by-Step Plan:

Investigation Phase:

1. Gather data on the current production and inventory management system.

2. Conduct interviews with production staff to identify pain points.

3. Analyze data to understand the shortcomings and areas for improvement.

Development Phase:

1. Propose a new production and inventory management system addressing identified issues.

2. Collaborate with IT professionals to develop a prototype.

3. Present the prototype to stakeholders for feedback.

Testing Phase:

1. Conduct a pilot test of the new system with a select group of production staff.

2. Gather feedback on usability, efficiency, and satisfaction.

3. Revise the system based on the test results.

Implementation Phase:

1. Roll out the improved production and inventory management system.

2. Provide training to staff for seamless integration.

3. Monitor the system’s performance in real-time.

Evaluation Phase:

1. Assess the impact of the new system on operational efficiency.

2. Measure customer satisfaction through surveys.

3. Evaluate the financial performance related to garment production.

Measuring Success:

Success would be measured by a 20% increase in operational efficiency, a 15% rise in

customer satisfaction scores, and a 10% growth in revenue from garment sales.

The success of my work would be evaluated based on project completion within the stipulated
timeframe, adherence to the budget, and achieving the defined project goals.

Data and Evidence Gathering:

Data would include current production records, employee feedback, and financial reports.

Methods/tools: Surveys, interviews, financial analysis tools, and system testing tools.

Challenges and Risk Mitigation:

Challenges: Resistance to change, potential disruptions in production.

Mitigation: Conduct thorough change management, provide continuous support during the
transition, and have contingency plans for any disruptions.

In conclusion, this R&D plan aims to address a tangible problem within Dewdrops Style,
promoting organizational development through the implementation of an enhanced production
and inventory management system. The plan outlines a systematic approach to investigate,
develop, test, and implement the proposed solution within a realistic one-year timeframe.
