I. SUMMARY OF THE CASE

Years ago, to save memories, our people invented something that

somehow will save their memories. Kodak core business was selling film. Kodak was
a successful business back then; it saves and creates memories that will cherish by
most people back then. Kodak was so blinded by its success that it completely missed
the rise of digital technologies. Although kodak invented the technology but still it
didn’t invest in it. Now, one of the reasons why Kodak vanished in digital technology
world is that Kodak mismanaged its investment in digital cameras, overshooting the
market by trying to match performance of traditional film rather than embrace the
simplicity of digital. While kodak was trying to fit in, as time goes by lots of new
digital technologies arises, and they completely forgot how to embrace their own. Just
like the Facebook that was creates by Mark Zuckerberg wherein you could share your
pictures and save it and becomes a memory later on. The downfall of this company is
not all about the new technologies that arises, it is about how they manage and
strategize their way of improving their company.

II. INSIGTHS

The downfall of kodak was also its company’s fault itself. They failed to
embrace their own strengths and weakness. Along with their success, they forgot to
embrace the simplicity of digital and trying to match the performance of traditional
film. They never truly understand how the new digital technologies works, where
they failed was in realizing that online photo sharing was the new business, not just a
way to expand the printing business. What happened to the downfall of kodak serve
as a lesson for those people who are in a business. Learning and adapting to new
innovations will help us grow as well as our businesses.

III. CONCLUSION

Kodak is a great example of everything comes to an end if we don’t

know how to manage or adapt to new changes, merge with other companies that will
help us grow, and embrace our own strength and weaknesses. What happened to the
downfall of kodak serve as a lesson for those people who are in a business. Learning
and adapting to new innovations will help us grow as well as our businesses.
Enjoying the success isn’t a bad thing but being blinded by success will surely put our
business in danger. Time changes so fast so are the digital technologies. In kodak
case, when cameras merged with phones, and people shifted from printing pictures to
posting them on social media and mobile phone apps. Kodak totally missed that.
Embracing the new changes in business world is really important not only to satisfy
the wants of the people but to also improve your business.
