Safety rules and regulations

1. Contractor’s representative:

1. All contractors on site shall have any time in activity a designated


representative qualified to direct work and receive instructions from ALV site
management.
2. All contractors will be responsible for their own subcontractors as it
concerns compliance with the mentioned rules and regulations
3. Prior to starting work and on a daily basis, Contractor representative shall
report to ALV representative.
4. Assign full time site safety manager to manage safety and quality activities
at site

2. Secrecy:

All contractors including their subcontractors are covered by an obligation for


professional secrecy and are committed to absolute secrecy as regards
technical, commercial or any other information regarding the process (operating
conditions, output, etc...) of which they might have cognizance due to their
presence on the worksite

3. Access of personnel to site:

1. Access within ALV worksite will only be allowed through indicated


checkpoints.
2. No worker will be allowed within ALV site without company ID.
3. All contractors will submit daily to ALV’s representative the complete list of
their workers on site that day.
This list will be transmitted to ALV’s security guard for control at the
entrance.
4. Workers whose name does not appear on the list will not be allowed to
enter the site.
5. No equipments, tools, accessories, will be smuggled into or outside
worksite. A record will be made at checkpoints for all movements.
6. No private vehicle will be allowed inside worksite except ALV and truck
delivering materials.

4. Worksite law and Coordination:

1. All Contractors employees should wear color code helmets corresponding


to the defined stripe color of their company. Contractors employees are not
allowed to go to any place at worksite which is not concerned to their work
2. All contractors representative shall attend the weekly coordination meeting.
The minutes of the meeting will be signed by contractors.
3. The Contractor is responsible for theft or damages by his personnel.
4. ALV’s site management must be informed of any incident or accident
occurring on the site
5. All Contractors must comply with orders and constructions relative to
general discipline given by ALV’s site management or by persons delegated
by that site management.

5. Safety instructions for workers:

1. Workers should wear safety equipments (shoes, helmet, gloves.) while on


the worksite.
2. Proper stacking of materials (secured to prevent sliding) shall be
maintained at all time
3. Appropriate clearance shall be defined by ALV’s site management and
maintained around cranes ( on ground level for workers, in the air for
electrical cable)
4. No work in altitude (over 2.5 m) without safety belt or appropriate protection
or equipment against risk of falling down
5. No work allowed while standing on a non secured ladder

6. Safety instructions for equipments operations:

1. Proper lifting techniques according to “ rule book” shall be used when


handling materials
2. Formal written approval about lifting procedures will be secured from ALV’s
representative on site prior to any operation involving such operations with
ALV’s equipments
3. No forklift will be used for transportation on uneven surfaces
4. While transporting bulky materials with forklift or any other appropriate
equipment, sufficient number of employees but not less than two will be
positioned to guide the operator during maneuvering

7. Safety instructions for fire hazards prevention

1. Flammable liquids and gases used by contractors will be stored any time
away from ALV’s equipments. The proposed location will be submitted to
ALV’s representative for written approval.
2. Hazardous activities carried out by Contractors shall be located at least 10
meters from each others
3. Hot work activities:
All activities presenting the following characteristics:
Naked flame:
Burning of Disposal
Electrical welding
Flame burning
Grinding
Internal combustion engines
Spark potential:
Use of non- certified electrical/ electronic equipment
Opening live junction boxes
Use of soldering irons
Will require work a hot work permit to be secured from ALV’s site
management in view of the following actions:

● Nearby (less than 10 horizontal meters or any vertical distance)


flammable or combustible materials should be covered and protected
with metal sheets or other suitable non-combustible materials.
● A fire watcher equipped with a portable fire extinguisher should be
assigned at the work area during and until at least half an hour after
completion of hot work operations to make sure that fires have not been
started
● Acetylene and oxygen cylinders should be secured to upright position,
stored separately (at least 10 meters distance) and properly chained
after working hours or when not in use.
4. The Hot work permit shall be prominently displayed in the work area
5. Upon work completion, the performing authority should return his Hot work
permit to ALV’s site management formally stating the condition of the work.

8. Work permit:

Before doing any work for ALV at ALV site or at ALV customer site contactors
must get ALV work permit.

9. Life Saving Rules:

Contractor must follow Life Saving Rules (LSR) of Air Liquide (see attached)
