TBT: Temporary Power Cable Management
Poor management and arrangement of cables can pose a hazard for the following reasons:
▪ Poor housekeeping leading to slips trips and falls.
▪ Inability to inspect cable correctly.
▪ Cable damage not being noticed.
▪ Scaffolders not being able to work safely in places where untidy cables trail over and between scaffolding.
What can you do:
▪ Rearrange cables in a neat and tidy manner.
▪ Ensure temporary cables are tied or hooked alongside structures and where applicable scaffolding in a tidy
manner.
▪ Attempt to place the cables in a form of temporary protection where possible or in places where the cables
could be inadvertently damaged (plastic piping or
temporary ducting)
▪ Ensure once arranged cables are all inspected for damage that may have occurred through times of
mismanagement or arrangement.
▪ Educate the workforce through TBT and during LMRA continuously.
▪ Use Stop Work Policy if you find cable damage for you cannot work due to mismanagement or arrangement of
cables. Report it Rectify it
▪ Rearrange cables that could become a trip of entanglement hazard. Place proper protection strips where cables
go across walkways.
