SUBJECT AND OBJECT QUESTIONS


SUMMARY

In the Simple Present and Simple Past Tense, we make questions and negatives with do,
does and did. But there are some exceptions to this rule.

SUBJECT QUESTION

 A subject question asks about the subject of the sentence.

The clown is selling baloons. Who is selling baloons?

CHARACTERISTICS

 In subject questions where we want to find information about the subject, we do


not use do/does/did.
 Use (What, Who, Which) as the beginning of the question.
 We do not use do/does/did.

OBJECT QUESTION

 An object question asks about the object of the sentence

The Clown met a little girl.

CHARACTERISTICS

 Use DO/DOES in simple present question.


 Use DID in simple past question.
 We can use have be in present perfect, modal verbs, aux. (was were)
e.g: Have you ben studying hard?
Will he come tomorrow?
When was the car washed?
