COMMUNICATION 2
 FAR EASTERN UNIVERSITY 2nd Semester 2023-2024

Learning Objectives:
 Know and understand techniques of freehand line drawing, tonal values, pencil techniques, pencil rendering, shade,
shadow, and texture.
 Illustrate in graphical form the basic ideas and techniques of pencil rendering.
 Identify and discern between different pencil techniques through application in a given project.

Materials:
 Pencils (3H,H,F,HB,B,2B)
 A6-sized plain notebook for sketch journal (preferably Muji brand, double-wire notebook plain, beige, 80 pages)

Instructions for the sketch journal layout:

1. Leave the first page empty.
2. Provide a creative hand-drawn cover for the second page of your journal.
3. Print then cut and paste the provided layout for your journal contents and ratings on the third page.
4. Leave the fourth page empty.
5. Start your weekly sketch journal on the 5th page onwards.
6. Provide your creative composition with write-ups and/or labels (optional).
7. Please be advised that the sketch and rendering style shall be similar to weekly FA topics.
8. The weekly journal comprised 15 points of your Formative Assessments (FAs).
9. Here are the following themes:
 FA1 Week: 3 drafting materials with different basic shapes
 FA2 Week: 3 home objects with different basic shapes
 FA3 Week: Your study space at home
 FA4 Week: Wood, concrete, silk/linen, bamboo, glass, and stone/bricks materials
 FA5 Week: 1 set each of human, plant species, and car entourage found inside the FEU Manila campus
 FA6 Week: 3 sculptural pieces inside the FEU Manila campus
 FA7 Week: 1 TAMbayan spot inside the FEU Manila campus (complete with entourage)
 FA8 Week: 1 building of your choice inside the FEU Manila campus (complete with entourage)

Creative composition & choice of subject: 5 points
Attention to detail: 5 points
Application of weekly topics: 5 points

Total: 15 points (for Formative Assessment 9)
