Groups of 4 members max.

The following information was collected from a tensile test of a copper alloy 0.450 in. In
diameter and an initial length of 2.15 in.

Load (lb) Initial length (pulg)

0 2.15
2000 2.15167
5000 2.15333
6500 2.15417
9000 2.159
10500 2.19
12000 2.41
12400 2.65
11400 3.17

After fracture, the overall length was 3.17 in. And the diameter was 0.11 in.

a) From the data in the table, determine

b) Calculate the engineering tensile stress and deformation
Graph of engineering stress vs engineering strain and calculate
c) The creep resistance compensated to 0.2%
d) The elasticity modulus
e) Elongation %
f) Area reduction %
g) The engineering tensile stress in the fracture
h) Maximum deformation of the material
2. The material adequate to design 160" long bars without deforming by more than 0.025"
that will withstand a force of 15000 pounds and with a maximum allowable stress of 15000
psi.
