IV. Brief Description of the Proposal:

(Briefly describe the innovation in terms of its type, project target, usage
or application, and its significance)

Project FACTS+ (Fun Activities, Counting Techniques and

Strategies in Adding) is a process innovation where in the target
clientele are Grade 2 pupils who do not have mastery in Basic Addition
Facts. Game – based instruction and the use technology will be the
strategies to be used in mastering Basic Additon Facts.
The proponents of this innovation believe that learners mastery of
Basic Addition Facts is a pre-requisite skill for them to be able to cope
up with other mathematical skills.

VI. Total Funding Requrement:

(Indicate the amount of funds for the innovation project and source)

PhP 2 000.00

VII. Implementation Period:

(Please speify the duration for implementing the innovation project)

October 2023 – April 2024

VIII. Background
(Please provide the circumstances or situation that led to the proposal for
the innovation project)

The school conducted pre – test of Mathematics Contextualized

Project All Numerates (MC – PAN) last October 2023. Based on the
result we found out that 21 out of 39 Grade 2 do not have mastery in
Basic Addition Facts.
This is the reason why the school created an innovation to help
the pupils master the Basic Addition Facts.

IX. Rationale
(Indicate data-driven reasons why the innovation is necessary (refer to
the sources), abd what needs to be addressed or innovated)

The result of MC –PAN revealed that the Grade 2 pupils were

having difficulty in their numeracy skills specifically Basic Additon
Facts. This problem is not only observed in Capihan Elementary School
but also in the entire Division of Bulacan. The onslaught of the COVID
19 pandemic brought too much problem in the academe due to the
lack of face to face instruction from the teachers and low parental
support and assistance.

This challenge is something to be addressed in order to at least

decrease the number of pupils having problem in numeracy. Numeracy
is a skill that needs to be developed for it is part of the pupils’ daily life.
Numbers are inevitable because our day-to-day life is composed of
numbers.

If only pupils could master basic addition facts it would make

things better. Basic additon facts would allow them to simply see the
importance of adding or supplying something to make a thing enough

or sufficient. Traditional teaching, on the other hand, still prevails but

with the aid of technology, learning would be fun and exciting.

Digital education is the aim of the department or the so called

Education 4.0 in order to make every learner well-verse in utilizing
digital devices. Learning is engaging and mastering mathematics is fun
through digital teaching and hand on activities.

X. Project Description
(Provide information for the following)

A. Goal:

To meet or exceed the 80% or 17 out of 21 pupils who do not have

mastery of Basic Addtion Facts to have mastery of BAF after the
implementation of this innovation.

B. Outcome:

80% or 17 out of 21 Grade 2 pupils who do not have mastery of

Basic Addtion Facts will have mastery of BAF after the
implementation of this innovation.

C. Objectives:

 To involve the parents inthe teaching – learning process

 To use game – based instruction in mastering Basic Addition
Facts
 To incorporate the use of technology (eg. Kahoot, Nearpod) in
mastering Basic Addition Facts

D. Inputs:

Involving parents
Game – Based Instruction
Use of teachnology

E. Expected Outputs:

80% or 17 out of 21 Grade 2 pupils who do not have mastery of

Basic Addtion Facts will have mastery of BAF after the
implementation of this innovation.

XI. Methodology

A. Method (Briefly discuss the design)

This innovation project is designed to use game - based

instruction and online application in order to engage Grade 2
pupils in solving basic addtion facts. The teacher would give
thorough discussion of the topic then online activities would be
given afterwards. Pupils are expected to create accounts in order to
access the online application. Scores and ranking of pupils are
shown after they all worked on the activities. The role of the teacher
as guidance counselor would work to process pupils for them to be
challenged and engage further in the online activity.

Pupils by then are expected to work on their on and gain

mastery of the lesson on basic addition facts.
