LEARNING OBJECTIVES
in Activity 3, completing 8 gap fills for 8 sentences and circling the correct temporal and complete 8
sentences with the verbs in brackets.

ACTIVITIES
1. Pupils work in pairs to discuss their future plans either the immediate future i.e. the weekend or
PRE-LESSON more distant future i.e. college/career etc.
2. A few pairs share their discussion with the class.
3. Pupils turn to page 61 English Download and read the Grammar Box about future simple, shall, be
going to, future continuous.
4. Pupils read 2 sentences in Activity 2 and identify which one expresses a suggestion and which one
asks about a future plan or intention.
5. Pupils discuss answers as a class.
6. Pupils read through the text in Activity 3 and identify words or clues that will help them to choose the
correct answer.
7. Pupils circle 7 correct answers for the text in Activity 3.
8. Pupils compare and discuss their answers in groups of 3 or 4 before discussing as a class.
9. Pupils turn to page 63 and read the Grammar Box about future perfect simple, future perfect
continuous, temporals.
10. Pupils read 2 sentences in Activity 2 and identify which tenses are used and which one could be

11. Pupils read the instructions and sentences in Activity 3.
12. Pupils complete 8 gap fills for 8 sentences using either future perfect simple or future perfect
continuous.
13. Pupils compare their answers in groups of 3 or 4 before discussing as a class.
14. Pupils proceed to Activity 4 and read the instructions and sentences.
15. Pupils circle the correct temporal and complete 8 sentences with the verbs in brackets.
16. Pupils discuss the answers as a class.

Differentiated Activities:
Less proficient pupils: Organise talk partners or grouping so that a more proficient pupil can help and
support a less proficient pupil.
More proficient pupils: Write their own sentences using the future perfect simple and continuous.
1. Pupils review their learning in this lesson by looking at the sentence on the board ‘By the time I’m
POST-LESSON thirty…’ and mirror an example such as ‘By the time I’m thirty, I will have written my first novel.’
2. Pupils complete the sentence with their own ideas and later discuss as a class.
