TAP I – Questioning Lesson Plan

Type in the brackets and fill in the prompts. Create a lesson for any grade
level/subject. The emphasis is QUESTIONING. You can use your packet Task 6 to
get you started.

**Objective:** [Students should be able to recognize all the letters of the alphabet. They
also should be able to create at least 2-3 words.]

**Materials Needed:**

- [Pencils/Colored Pencils, Color by Letter Sheet, Foam letter puzzle, and a song about
letters.]

**Procedure:**

1. **Introduction**

- [Today, we are going to learn how many letters are in the alphabet and how you can
create words with letters like how your mom and dad type out their work e-mails.]

2. **Engagement**

- [ They are going to trace out vowels on a piece of paper and answer questions about the
different letters of the alphabet.]
3. **Instructional Input**

- [A PowerPoint presentation about the letters of the alphabet and how to make words.]

- [You can make words by using letters of the alphabet like how letters B, A, and T can
make the word bat.]

-[I would go over the power point answer any questions that they have over the power
point, at the end of the power point we would listen to a song about letters and do the
hand motions that are with the song.]

4. **Guided Practice**

- [We would do a letter puzzle where everybody will be able to put the letters in the
spot that they think it should go in and if they don’t get it right, I will explain to them why
they were wrong in a very sweet way and ask if they want to try again.]

- [If students ask questions during the activity, I will gladly answer them or if too many
are asking questions at once, they will be able to ask them after the lesson.]

5. **Independent Practice**

- [i would let them do a color by letter coloring sheet where they can either work in small
groups of 2 or 3 or they can work by themselves. I would also set up a discussion time with
many questions that they can talk to each other to be able to get the right answer. ]

- [Include worksheets, problem sets, discussions, projects, etc.]

6. **Assessment**

- [I would have them take an exit ticket and see how many letters of the alphabet that
they can memorize and how many words that they can create]

- [Include formative assessments, quizzes, exit tickets, observations, etc.]

7. **Closure**

- [I would go over how to make words and the letters of the alphabet and the locations
of the letters, ]
- [Connect the lesson to the broader curriculum or real-world applications]

- [Preview of what students will learn in the next lesson, if applicable]

- [I would have them answer questions on their exit ticket, explain how making words can
connect to getting jobs and ask them if they know anything about numbers and how many
things that they know about numbers.]
