1. Meenesh Shah elected as NCDFI Chairman

National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Limited
(NCDFI), the national level apex dairy cooperative body, has
elected its new Board of Directors. In the elections held, Dr.
Meenesh Shah was unanimously elected as the new
president of the organization. The election process was
conducted by Anand District Collector, Praveen Choudhary,
IAS, who acted as the returning officer. Ahead of the Board
elections, the NCDFI General Body had elected eight
Directors to the Board in an unopposed process on April 04,
2024.

2. John Tinniswood becomes the oldest person in the world

England's John Alfred Tinniswood has officially become the
world's oldest living man. His age is 111 years and 224 days.
His name has been recorded in the Guinness Book. Recently,
the world's oldest person, Juan Vicente Perez Mora, died at
the age of 114. Tinniswood was born on 26 August 1912 in
Liverpool. This was the year when Titanic sank. Tinniswood
has seen two world wars and two pandemics before his
eyes.

3. Joint naval exercise of four countries started in the South

China Sea
The US, Japan, Australia and the Philippines launched their
first joint naval exercises in a show of force in the South
China Sea. The joint exercise, which is going to be held amid
the threat posed by China's aggressive actions in the South
China Sea, will also include anti-submarine warfare training
exercises.

4. SJVN partners with IIT-Patna to improve tunnel construction

project performance
The MoU was signed in the presence of AK Singh, Director
(Finance), SJVN, and TN Singh, Director, IIT-Patna, in New
Delhi. Many prominent persons from both sides were
present on this occasion. One of the key outcomes of this
partnership will be the development of predictive analytics
algorithms. These algorithms will leverage integrated
geotechnical data to predict potential risks. It will provide a
specially designed early warning system for tunnel
construction projects.

5. Grapher Gangu Ramsay dies at the age of 83
Veteran filmmaker, director and famous cinematographer
Gangu Ramsay passed away on 7 April 2024. Gangu Ramsay
died at the age of 83. Gangu Ramsay was the second son of
renowned cinematographer and film producer FU Ramsay,
one of the famous Ramsay Brothers. Like his father, Gangu
Ramsay also became an excellent cinematographer, who left
a deep mark on the cinema world. Gangu Ramsay did
cinematography in more than 50 films under the banner of
Ramsay Brothers.

6. Navy Chief awards INS Sharda for anti-piracy operations

Naval Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar, during his visit to the
Southern Naval Command, Kochi on Saturday, awarded the
'On the Spot Unit Citation' to INS Sharda for successful
conduct of anti-piracy operations. The Navy here said the
ship was involved in the safe release of all 19 crew members
(11 Iranians and 08 Pakistanis) of Iranian fishing vessel
Omari, which was taken hostage by pirates off the east
coast of Somalia.

7. Sitar and Tanpura made in Miraj got GI Tag

Sitar and Tanpura made in Miraj, a small town in
Maharashtra, have received the Geographical Indication (GI)
tag. This area is famous for making musical instruments. It
comes in Sangli district. The manufacturers have claimed
that these instruments are made in Miraj. They are in huge
demand among the artists of classical music as well as the
artists associated with the film industry. The tradition of
making sitar and tanpura in Miraj is more than 300 years
old.

8. Coast Guard inaugurates aquatic center at Mandapam, Tamil

Nadu
Indian Coast Guard Director General Rakesh Pal inaugurated
the Indian Coast Guard Aquatic Center at ICGS Mandapam
near Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. The Director General is on
a 4-day visit to Indian Coast Guard bases in Tamil Nadu,
Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. During his maiden visit to
Chennai, he reviewed the operational preparedness and
infrastructure development of the maritime force in the
region. He also visited ICG station Krishnapatnam and had a
first-hand review of the infrastructure projects.
