Micro Project Proposal
TITLE OF MICRO PROJECT: MAKE A PICTORIAL REPORT SHOWING THE WORKING AND
APPLICATION OF SELF-TRANSIT MIXERS.

1.0 Rationale (Importance of the project)

Civil Engineering sector has completed number of projects with conventional techniques to
meet the needs of the society. But, in recent two decades, various new innovative techniques
are being used worldwide, which our practicing engineers, are also partially using to achieve
their goals. The emerging trends in Civil Engineering help to complete the undertaken projects
within prescribed schedule, saves the natural resources and to make the projects eco-
friendly. This subject helps to make awareness about soft computing techniques, new
materials, advanced machineries, sustainable resource management and advancement in
Civil.
2.0 Aim/Benefits of Micro Project
1. To learn about the self-transit mixers.
2. Uses and application of self-transit mixers.
3. Stating some relevant information about common features.
3.0 Course Outcomes Achieved
1. Suggest advance resource management techniques in project.
2. Suggest advance Material that site required.
4.0 Literature Review (additional copy may be attached)
A literature review on self-transit mixers would typically encompass an exploration of research,
articles, and publications related to the design, functionality, efficiency, and applications of
self-transit mixers in the construction industry.
5.0 Actual Procedure Followed.
Write step wise the work was done, including which team member did what work and how
the data was analyzed (if any).
1. Discussion about topic with guide and among group members
2. Submission of project proposal
3. Information collection
4. Analysis of Data
5. Compilation of the content
6. Representation

7.0 Outputs of the Micro-Projects (Drawings of the prototype, drawings of survey,
presentation of collected data, findings etc.)
Self-transit mixers, also known as self-loading concrete mixers or self-propelled mixers, are
specialized vehicles designed to mix and transport concrete on construction sites. They offer
several advantages over traditional concrete mixing and transportation methods, including
increased efficiency, reduced labor requirements, and improved productivity.
8.0 Skill Developed / learning out of this Micro-Project
The following skills were developed while performing and developing this micro-project
1. Designing: Designing of micro-project with minimum required resources and at low cost.
2. Team work: Learned to work in a team and boost individual confidence.
3. Time Management: Timely completion of micro-project as scheduled.
4. Data Analysis: Interpretation of data: drawing and analysis of graph.
5. Problem-solving: Develop good problem-solving habits.
6. Technical writing: Preparing a report of the proposed plan and final report.
9.0 Application of this Micro Project
Self-transit mixers find a wide range of applications in the construction industry due to their
versatility, efficiency, and mobility. Here are some common applications:
 Small to Medium-Scale Construction Projects: Self-transit mixers are ideal for small to
medium-scale construction projects, such as residential buildings, commercial structures,
and infrastructure development. They can deliver fresh concrete directly to the construction
site, eliminating the need for manual mixing or transportation.
 Remote or Hard-to-Reach Areas: In remote or hard-to-reach areas where traditional
concrete delivery trucks may have difficulty accessing, self-transit mixers excel. Their
compact size and off-road capabilities allow them to navigate rough terrain and deliver
concrete to even the most inaccessible locations.
 Road Construction and Repair: Self-transit mixers are commonly used in road construction
and repair projects for producing and delivering concrete for pavements, curbs, sidewalks,
and other infrastructure elements. Their mobility and on-site mixing capabilities make them
well-suited for these applications.
 Foundation and Footing Work: For construction projects requiring precise concrete
placement, such as foundations and footings, self-transit mixers offer a convenient solution.
They can deliver freshly mixed concrete directly to the desired location, ensuring uniformity
and consistency in the poured concrete.
 Residential Construction: In residential construction, self-transit mixers are frequently used
for tasks like pouring driveways, patios, and other concrete surfaces. Their ability to
maneuver in tight spaces and deliver concrete as needed makes them valuable assets for
residential builders.
 Commercial and Industrial Projects: Self-transit mixers play a crucial role in commercial and
industrial construction projects, including warehouses, factories, and retail complexes. They
can efficiently deliver large volumes of concrete to support the construction of structural
elements like columns, beams, and slabs.
 Emergency Repairs and Maintenance: In emergency situations such as road repairs, bridge
maintenance, or disaster response efforts, self-transit mixers can provide a rapid and
efficient means of delivering concrete to restore damaged infrastructure quickly.
 Precast Concrete Manufacturing: Self-transit mixers are also utilized in precast concrete
manufacturing facilities where on-site mixing is required to produce specialized concrete
products such as precast panels, pipes, and barriers.
