PREFACE

Hello, everyone! Welcome to my teaching internship

portfolio. I'm thrilled to share my journey as a
practice teacher with you. Throughout this
portfolio, you'll get a peek into my experiences,
lessons learned, and growth as an aspiring educator.
Teaching is all about learning, adapting, and
connecting with students, and I hope this portfolio
reflects my passion for making a positive impact in
the classroom. So, let's dive in together and explore
the wonderful world of teaching!
HOLY ROSARY COLLEGE FOUNDATION

INTRODUCTION
Over the past few months, I've had the incredible
opportunity to step into the classroom and work
alongside experienced teachers. It's been a journey
filled with learning, challenges, and moments of
joy.
Each day brought something new, from planning
lessons to guiding students through their learning
adventures. I've had the chance to connect with
students, understand their needs, and help them
grow academically and personally.
Through this internship, I've discovered the
importance of patience, creativity, and flexibility in
teaching. I've learned how to adapt lesson plans on
the fly and create a supportive learning
environment where every student feels valued and
included.
I'm excited to reflect on my experiences, share what
I've learned, and continue my journey towards
becoming a dedicated and effective educator.
HOLY ROSARY COLLEGE FOUNDATION

PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING
I believe that teaching involves sharing what you know to
help learners grow and improve. It is not only based on
the books you teach but also on personal experiences
that can be helpful in real-life scenarios. As a future
teacher, I understand that learning is not just about
gaining knowledge but also about knowing how to apply
it in everyday life. I aspire to create a learning
environment where students feel safe, are free to express
themselves, and enjoy their learning experience. I will
engage my students in various activities that can aid in
their growth and help them reach their maximum
potential. Their engagement with different people and
organizations is a stepping stone to achieving their life
goals, and as their teacher, I will guide them along that
path. Additionally, I will ensure that all students'
differences, capabilities, and identities are respected and
embraced. My greatest achievement as a teacher would
be seeing my students succeed and visit me in the future.
I believe that a teacher is a hero who works for the
betterment of students.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF
THE SCHOOL INCLUDING
THEIR VISION MISSION
1.1 Manuel Luis Quezon High School
Manuel Luis Quezon High School (MLQHS) emerged from community efforts spearheaded
by parents and barangay officials advocating for a public high school. Initially established as
an annex of NHC High School, it quickly became known colloquially as Malaria High
School, reflecting its location in barangay Malaria. Despite starting with a modest seven
permanent teachers, MLQHS underwent significant development under the leadership of
figures like Mrs. Josefina L. Aquino. Through her tenure and subsequent administrations,
the school witnessed substantial enhancements, including the addition of classrooms and
infrastructure improvements such as cementing the quadrangle. Mrs. Aquino's tenure
marked a pivotal period, during which MLQHS began its journey towards autonomy,
eventually achieved in 2006 under the stewardship of Mrs. Charito M. Matias. Following the
attainment of autonomy, ML.QHS continued its trajectory of progress under successive
principals. Ferdinand D. De Leon, who took the helm in 2007, demonstrated unwavering
dedication and commitment to the school's advancement. During his tenure, De Leon
oversaw the expansion of academic offerings, including the establishment of a Special
Science class and initiatives to promote performing arts through organizations like Teatrong
Naghahanap ng Pangalan (TNP). Infrastructure development also flourished, with notable
additions such as a three-story building with nine classrooms. Dr. Marissa B. Feliciano
further built upon this foundation, bringing her experience from Sampaguita High School to
MLQHS and emphasizing both academic excellence and the beautification of the campus
with features like a herbal garden. Throughout its history, MLQHS has remained a
testament to the power of community advocacy and dedicated leadership in shaping the
educational landscape.

Vision
A home-like institution of excellences, discipline, and lifelong learning and
holistic development.

Mission
To render fundamental and balanced educational services through organized
and harmonious partnership of stakeholders in a home-like environment

THE DEPLOYMENT AND MY

EVERYDAY LIFE AS A
STUDENT TEACHER
At the day of our deployment, we are all very excited because at last we are now a 4th
year college student which means we are very near at the the finish line. It is our first
time being deployed at public school because during 3rd year we were deployed at
private schools. the English major were divided into two, some of us were scheduled in
the morning and some were scheduled in the afternoon including me while all the Math
major was scheduled in the afternoon. I was assigned to my cooperating teacher, Mrs.
Cristine V. Embalsado. She is a very great cooperating teacher. Being a practice teacher
at Manuel Luis Quezon High School has been quite the journey. Every day brings new
challenges and opportunities for learning, both for me and my students.
When I first started, I was nervous. I wanted
to make a good impression and be the best
teacher I could be. But as time went on, I
realized that teaching isn't just about knowing
the material—it's about connecting with the
students. One thing I've learned is the
importance of patience. Not every student
learns at the same pace, and some may need
extra help to understand certain concepts. It's
my job to make sure I'm there for them,
answering questions and providing support
whenever they need it. Of course, there are
also moments of frustration. Sometimes it
feels like no matter how hard I try, some
students just aren't interested in learning. But
I've come to realize that everyone has their
own motivations and challenges, and it's my
job to find ways to engage them and help
them succeed. Working with the MLQHS has
been an incredibly rewarding experience. I've
grown so much as a teacher and as a person,
and I'm grateful for the opportunity to make
a difference in the lives of my students, even
in small ways.

MY TEACHING
DEMONSTRATION
My final demonstration at Grade 8 Agoho was both nerve-wracking and exciting. Planning
the lesson was both challenging and rewarding. Initially, I felt a bit overwhelmed because I
wanted to make sure the students not only understood the story but also connected with its
deeper meanings. To start, I broke down the lesson into manageable chunks, focusing on
key themes like love, sacrifice, and wisdom. I wanted to make sure the students could relate
to these themes in their own lives. So, I brainstormed different activities and discussion
questions to engage them actively. I introduced Matsuo Basho and providing some
background information on Japanese literature. Then, we delved into the story of the
"Aged Mother." I encouraged the students to listen very carefully while I had my voice
record reading aloud the story as there were questions afterwards.

Next, we discussed the characters and their motivations, exploring the mother's selfless act
of sacrifice and the son's journey towards understanding the true meaning of filial piety. I
was amazed by the students' insights and observations during our discussion. Then I
divided the class into small groups and asked them to create their own interpretations of
the story through skits or drawings. It was heartening to see the students collaborating and
expressing their creativity. My experience planning and delivering this lesson taught me the
importance of creating a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered
to explore literature and its relevance to their own lives. It was a truly memorable and
fulfilling experience that I will carry with me as I continue my journey as a teacher.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF
THE SCHOOL INCLUDING
THEIR VISION MISSION
2.1 Tala High School
Tala High School was known before as Tala Barrio High School when itwas founded in the
Campus of Tala Elementary. The Elementary is at presentin its 74th year of existence, this
year 2021-2022. Hence, there were many improvements in the school grounds and
beautification duringthe period of more than a decadeof operation, this ,Barrio has never
been hoped to grow and prosper. Besides, the very reasonbehind it was the negative
conception towards Hansen's diseasepredominantly evaded desires of parents in the nearby
sitiosand barrios to enroll their children in Tala Barrio School.
The Central Luzon Sanitarium Hospital Employees initiated its formal operation in 1946
exclusively for their children and later for the other non- patient pupils. Multi grade
classeswere conducted in an old Army Quonsetthat was acquiredby the Parent Teachers
Association. A combination classunder one teacherwith two grades,Grade I, Grade II,
Grade III, and IV. This system was implemented either for lack of enrolleesor for lack of
teachers. Due to Lack of classrooms during those times, the students were housed in the
bakery. Manage by the PTA president, Mr. Simson Patawan.
The first school building was an old army Quonset acquired by PTA and the hospital
employees in 1948. However, the urgent need for a high school prompted the concerned
officials to establish a Barrio High School in July 1967. During those times, Tala Barrio
School, until it was separated from the Elementary High School, was transferred in itsformer
site near Glorieta Park in the site of the present post office. It was known by this time Annex
High School. In 1980, Tala school was transferred to its present location with Dr. Ceasar L.
Gayod as the principal. The first building was Chinese Chanbers Building until some other
buildings were added.

Vision
The TALA HIGH SCHOOL shall be the center of excellence that can model an
educational system that produces holistically developed persons who possess
knowledge and skills and whose capabilities are nurtured to become self-motivated,
self-disciplined and socially responsible citizens in a changing and complex world

Mission
- It is the mission of Tala High School
- To create a safe, caring, peaceful and nurturing environment for learning.
- To support the personal and intellectual success of every student everyday.
- To provide quality educational program for all students that develop the knowledge,
skills, abilities and values for students to reach their full potentials to be globally
competitive.
- To maintain a variable partnership between school, parents and the community.
- To maintain collaboration between parents of students and staff to prevent failure and
ensure academic success for each child.

THE DEPLOYMENT AND MY

EVERYDAY LIFE AS A
STUDENT TEACHER
Being a practice teacher at Tala High School
has been quite the experience! Every day is
filled with new challenges and learning
opportunities. My co-practice teacher and I
work closely together to support each other
and the students.
We start our day by planning our lessons
together. We make sure to keep them
engaging and interactive so that the students
stay interested and involved. Sometimes,
though, things don't go as planned, and we
have to quickly adapt. It's all part of the
learning process! There are 12 of us from
English major and 5 math majors. The math
major were deployed in the morning while all
the English major were deployed in the
afternoon. They are the best team mates, non
e of us really have an issue with each other,
we really worked well together.

During breaks, we might meet with other

teachers or chat with students who need extra
help. It's important to build relationships
with everyone in the school community. After
school, there's usually more planning and
maybe some grading to do. We reflect on how
the day went and think about how we can
improve for tomorrow. After class which is
evening, some of us walked together when
going homes, so these are the moments that
made us close to each other. Being a practice
teacher is challenging but rewarding. Every
day brings something new, and I'm grateful to
be learning and growing alongside my co-
practice teacher and the students.
There are five sections that I handle but that is only when it is my time to substitute
and that is every third week. The regular sections that I handle are Bluebells, Begonia,
Anthurium and Amaryllis and the section I substitute for is Vanda. Amaryllis and
Anthurium are part of what you call SSC which stands for Special Science Class. While
Bluebell and Begonia are regular sections they can be par with the SSC’s. All the
sections that I handle are very cooperative and participative during class. All of them
have ideas that they want to present. I won’t deny that I became very close to them
during my stay as a practice teacher and i will definitely treasure my memories with
them. Every day, I walk into the classroom filled
with eager students, each with their own
unique personalities and learning styles. It's
challenging, but incredibly rewarding. In the
evening, I prepare my lesson plans, making
sure they are engaging and tailored to meet
the needs of my students. Sometimes, things
don't go exactly as planned, and I have to
think on my feet to adapt and keep the class
on track. During my lesson in the afternoon,
I try to create a positive atmosphere where
everyone feels comfortable participating.
One of the most fulfilling parts of my day is
seeing the "aha" moments when a student
finally understands a concept they've been
struggling with. Of course, there are
challenges too. Managing a classroom full of
teenagers can be chaotic at times, but I've
learned to stay calm and patient, always
striving to be a positive role model for my
students. Especially in the SSC where they
asked questions that’s out of my scope, that
is why never ever enter a classroom that you
are not prepared.

MY TEACHING
DEMONSTRATION
I was and still very about the result of my
final demonstration at Grade 8- Begonia.
Actually, I was not able to finish my dry run
on the 3 sections which Bluebells, Amaryllis
and Anthurium. I was only able to present up
to my demonstration that is why I am nervous
if I can even finish the whole discussion to
assignment. I prayed really hard to lord to
give it to me since it was also my birthday at
the same time. I am really glad that God did
not let me down, sobra-sobra pa ang binigay
niya sa akin. I am also thankful to my kind,
supporting and beautiful cooperating teacher,
Mrs. Je-Ann Chua, without her support I
would not be able to do this. The ideas that
she suggested together with my ideas are
perfect. I am really glad that she was my
cooperating teacher. She is truly the best CT
that I’ve had.

This is the picture of me together with my

professors, Ma’am Tin Sabiron and Ma’am
Josephine D. Vendiola, cooperating teacher,
Mrs. Je-Ann Chua and the department head
of English, Dr. Bernadeth Limson. Below is
the picture of my Grade 8 - Begonia. I am
very thankful that they are very cooperative
during demonstration as always. They are the
one who lifted up the spirit in the classroom.
I am quite anxious that they do not know the
story but I am glad there are some of them
who is quite advance when it comes to lesson.
Begonia was my very first choice to have my
demonstration with and I am glad that I
chose them. Not that I am saying the other
sections are worse because I am handling
Special Science Class, Amaryllis and
Anthurium. But then there are times that
Anthurium are not that active while
Amaryllis, they are too wild to handle, all of
them wants to answer.
III. BRIEF SYNOPSIS
OF PROFESSIONAL
READINGS
"The Courage to Teach" by Parker J. Palmer is a book that
looks deep inside a teacher's heart and mind. It talks about
the feelings and thoughts teachers have while they teach.
Palmer explores how teaching is not just about facts and
figures but also about emotions and beliefs. He encourages
teachers to be true to themselves and to find courage in
their own inner landscape. The book shares stories and
insights to inspire teachers to teach with passion,
authenticity, and empathy. It reminds us that teaching is a
courageous act that requires vulnerability, reflection, and
resilience. Overall, "The Courage to Teach" is a guide for
teachers to connect with their inner selves and find the
strength to make a meaningful difference in the lives of
their students.

"Atomic Habits" by James Clear is a book that shows

you how to make small changes in your habits to make
big improvements in your life. It teaches you simple and
effective strategies to build good habits and break bad
ones. Using real-life examples and easy-to-understand
language, Clear explains how tiny changes, or "atomic
habits," can lead to remarkable results over time.
Whether you want to exercise more, eat healthier, or be
more productive, this book offers practical advice and
actionable steps to help you achieve your goals and
create lasting change.

"Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to

Yourself" by Kristin Neff is a transformative guide that
explores the profound impact of self-compassion on overall
well-being. Dr. Neff, a leading expert in the field of self-
compassion research, draws on extensive psychological
research, personal anecdotes, and practical exercises to
illustrate the importance of treating ourselves with kindness,
understanding, and acceptance. Dr. Neff argues that self-
compassion is not about self-indulgence or self-pity but rather
about recognizing our common humanity and embracing
ourselves with warmth and care, especially during times of
struggle or failure. She offers readers a deeper understanding of
the three core components of self-compassion: self-kindness,
common humanity, and mindfulness in daily life.
