MODULE 1 - Lesson On Adverbs - Wk1 - G7
Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to identify and use different types of adverbs in
sentences.
Introduction:
Explain to students that adverbs are words that modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.
Give examples of adverbs and their functions in sentences.
Types of Adverbs:
1. Adverbs of manner: These adverbs describe how an action is performed. (e.g. quickly, slowly,
carefully)
2. Adverbs of frequency: These adverbs describe how often an action is performed. (e.g. always, often,
rarely)
3. Adverbs of time: These adverbs describe when an action is performed. (e.g. yesterday, now, later)
4. Adverbs of place: These adverbs describe where an action is performed. (e.g. here, there,
everywhere)
A. Identifying Adverbs: Identify the adverbs in each sentence and categorize them into the different
types.
Example: She ran quickly to catch the bus.
Answer: quickly – adverb of manner
1. They will meet later this evening.
2. They rarely go to the park.
3. The keys are lying somewhere around here.
4. He always completes his homework on time.
5. We will go there tomorrow.
6. The birds chirped cheerfully in the morning.
7. The book is lying here.
8. He always wakes up early in the morning.
9. The old man walks slowly with a cane.
Conclusion:
Identify the adverbs in each sentence and categorize them into the different types: adverbs of manner,
adverbs of frequency, adverbs of time, and adverbs of place.
