Plan (FEDP) with Adopted Family
PARTICIPANTS: Paulo Palma, Teresita Palma, TIME: 8 AM
Harvey Palma
BARANGAY/COMMUNITY: Brgy. Silangan, San VENUE: MS Teams Virtual Meet
Mateo Rizal

I. Introduction of the Family

The family of Palma resides in the municipality of San Mateo, in the province of
Rizal. The household members of the Palma Family are Ms. Teresita G. Palma, Mr.
Paulo M. Palma, and their son, Mr. Harvey Palma. The group chose the Palma family
as their adopted family considering the availability and easy communication between
the group and the respondents. Since the chosen adopted family has a close
relationship with one of the group members, communication would be easier to build
up.

II. Timeline of Activities (with pictures)

(1) Coordination
During the first task of choosing a tool for the Family Emergency and Disaster Plan
(FEDP), the group started brainstorming for possible ideas, strategies, and
approaches for efficient discussion.

(2) Discussion with the family on disaster (with specific topics discussed)
The group members created a group chat on messenger with the chosen
adopted family for discussion purposes.
(3) Go bag creation
During the Go Bag creation, the group members discussed the importance of each
item for survival. The members ensured that the adopted family took into
consideration their important belongings, first aid essentials, and other survival
equipment in creating their go bag.

(4) Sharing of the parts of the FEDP.

The group members sent the needed information and files in the group chat with the
Palma Family.
III. Feedback from the Family
People's awareness of disasters varies depending on various factors such as location,
education, and access to information. In general, I would say that people are
becoming more aware of disasters due to increased media coverage and efforts to
promote disaster preparedness. However, there are still gaps in knowledge and
understanding, particularly in regions with limited resources and infrastructure. It is
crucial to continue raising awareness about disasters and their potential impacts to
ensure that people are equipped with the necessary knowledge and resources to
respond effectively.

IV. Reflection
Share your personal reflection on the activity. Be guided with the following
questions:
1. How aware are people on disasters? Why is your answer such?
The conducted interview about the family emergency disaster plan was
insightful and beneficial. The interviewee demonstrated a strong
understanding of the importance of preparedness and had taken proactive
steps to create a comprehensive plan. Their emphasis on communication,
designated meeting points, and emergency supplies showcased their
commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of their family in the face
of a disaster. Additionally, their willingness to share personal experiences and
lessons learned added depth and practicality to the discussion. Overall, the
interview served as a valuable reminder of the significance of having a well-
thought-out family emergency disaster plan and inspired others to take
similar steps to protect their loved ones.

2. What needs to be done to ensure that more families are prepared?

What needs to be done for more families to be prepared for disasters is
to educate them. If every family in society is educated on disasters on what
types and its strengths then every family can prepare for every upcoming
disaster regardless of what types of disaster. Also, every family should
undergo a preparedness training so they can formulate emergency plans,
administer first aid and understand evacuation procedures. If every family
knows these things, then they will know what to do during and after a
disaster.

3. Why is having an FEDP important?

Having an FEDP is important because this ensures that every member of
the family is well prepared, coordinated, and ready to deal with the
complications in the face of disaster. This will also help every family to assess
and mitigate the risk of a disaster based on their location. FEDP is also
establishing a communication plan in case communication lines may be
disrupted and it will help every family to communicate to each other since
they have a designated contact point to receive an update and to check other
members of the family as well.
ACTIVITY EVALUATION

emerhensiya, at kamalayan.

darating.
