PROBLEM NO. 1

The figure shows a roof with area (36x6m). The system is made up of
steel beams.

GIVEN:
Wt. of Cover = 150 kg / m2.
Live load = 250 kg / m2.
RC slab thickness = 10 cm.
Spacing between main beams = 6 m
ST. 37
Neglect own weight of beams.

REQUIRED:

1. Design an intermediate secondary beam B1 as IPE section.

2. Check the safety of main beam B2 as IPE 600.
PROBLEM NO. 2

The figure shows a steel truss with one overhanging cantilever end, used
to cover an area of 26.0 x 56 m with spacing 7.0m

GIVEN:
Wt. of Steel = 35 kg / m2.
Wt. of Cover = 15 kg / m2.
Live load according to Egyptian code.
