c. Give the importance of the digestive system in life.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: The digestive system

Materials: Blackboard, Chalk, Pictures , Visual aids,TV, Laptop, PowerPoint.

III. PROCEDURE

Teacher's Activity Pupil's Activity

A. Engage

Class, I have some pictures here. Look at the

Can you describe each of these?
Each picture teacher is all about the parts of
our body,in order to digest the food.

Did you know that people can’t live without

( students watch the video)

Post your answer on the board and select a

representative to read the questions and
answer. ( student present their answer)

Alright! Thank You so much.

C. Explain

Now, based on our activities, who would like to

share some ideas on what our topic is for
today?
Our topic for today is about the Digestive
System.
Very good. Our topic for today is all about the
digestive system.

But before we proceed our discussion, let us

know first our lesson objectives that we need I. Objectives
you obtain in this lesson.
At the end of the lesson the grade - VI
pupils are expected to do the following with at
least 75% level of accuracy.

a. identify the function of the digestive

system

b. label the parts of the digestive

system;and

c. Give the importance of the digestive

system in life

Yes, Ma’am.
Are we clear class?

Now, Do you have any idea on what digestive It is an organ working together to get nutrients
system is?
from the food you eat.
Okay

Digestive system - is composed of organs

working together to get nutrients from the food
you eat.

Do you have an idea on what those organs are?

Mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine

and large intestine, Ma’am.

Yes, Very good.

Now, What is mouth

Mouth is used when we swallow foods
Alright

Mouth- is the beginning where food is

mechanically digested by chewing or
mastication.
Esophagus - Is a hollow, muscular tube that
carries food and liquid from your throat to your
stomach.

What organ carries food from your throat to

your stomach?

Esophagus, Maam.

Very good

Do you know what organ is this?

I think it's my stomach, Maam.

Good. What is a stomach?

An organ used to to store food.

Very good.

Stomach- Is a large pear shaped organ that can

temporarily expand to store food.

How about this?

It’s an intestine, Ma’am.

Very good.

Do you know what an intestine is?

indigestible food material after most nutrients
are absorbed in the small intestine

Alright!

This is the large intestine - Is responsible for

processing indigestible food material after
most nutrients are absorbed in the small
intestine.

Do you know what organ is this?

It’s a small intestine, Ma’am.

And do you know the function of this intestine?

No, Ma’am.

well , Small intestine- It is a long coiled tube .

Most of the digestion takes place in the small
intestine.

Did you now understand the organs involved in

the digestive system?
Yes, Ma’am.

Now, What is the digestive system?

Digestive system is composed of organs working
together to get nutrients from the food you eat.
What are those organs that work together?

Mouth, Esophagus, Small intestine, large

intestine and stomach.

Are these organs important to us?

Yes, Ma’am.

How important is it to us human beings?

It is very important because through this organ
of digestive system the foods and nutrients will
go through to our body that could help us to
gain energy.

Very good.

D. Elaborate

Now, in class we will have an individual activity.

You’ll be given 3 minutes to label the organ of
the digestive system and tell its function.

Direction: Label the organ of the digestive

system and tell its function.

Criteria:

Correctness—------------------------10PTS

Explanation ---------------------------10Pts

Total ------------------------------------- 20Pts
