Detailed Lesson Plan in EPP 4

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the grade 4 pupils are expected to do the following with at least
75% level of accuracy:
a. identify the methods of how to plant ornamental plants;
b. perform the cutting, marcotting, inarching, and grafting methods of planting
ornamental plants; and
c. value the methods of planting ornamental plants and its importance in our daily lives

Topic: “Investing Methods of how to Plant Ornamental Plants”
Reference: Curriculum Guide in EPP and TLE Grade 4-6
Materials: Television, PowerPoint Presentation, Manila paper/cartolina, marker

You have a point! Our topic for today is


all about, “Investing Methods of how to Plant
Ornamental Plants”.

Before we proceed to our discussion, let us At the end of the lesson, the grade 4 pupils are
know first the objectives that we need to expected to do the following with at least
attain in this lesson. Everybody read. 75% level of accuracy:

ornamental plants;
b. perform the cutting, marcotting, inarching,
and grafting methods of planting ornamental
plants; and
c. value the methods of planting ornamental
plants and its importance in our daily lives
In order to attain these objectives, I want you
to cooperate and participate well in our
activities.

Class, have you seen a plants that is still small Yes, ma’am!
but has fruit and flowers?

Do you have an idea how those plants has ( Student answer may vary)
fruits and flowers even they are small?

Alright! In order for plants to bloom and bear


fruit even if it is small, we must use different
methods.

Do you know what are these methods? (Students answer may vary)

Alright! So these are the methods of planting


ornamental plants.

1. Cutting

- this is the easiest method of artificial plant


propagation. The branch is cut, rooted, and
planted. It is also done in leaves and roots.

(The teacher demonstrate the cutting)

2. Marcotting

- this is done on the branch or trunk of the tree


while it has not yet been separated from the
tree. It is done on fruit trees like chico and
mango.

In marcotting, these are steps to be


followed:

1. Skin removal
2. Scraping of the outer fiber of the branch
3. Placing soil and moss
4. Wrapping it with coconut/plastic
5. Binding

3. Inarching

- in this method , the branch of one tree is


combined with the branch of another tree
placed in the pot.

Arching consists of the following steps:

1. Make a long cut in the tree or branch to


join.
2. Face the two slices and tie tightly.
(The teacher demonstrate inarching method)

4. Grafting

- this method combines two branches from


two trees.

( The teacher demonstrate this method)

Remember:
 Be careful in cutting branches or trunk
of a plant or trees to avoid wounds.

Generalization

For me to know that you really listen on our


discussion. I have some questions for you.

What are the methods in planting ornamental


plants? Cutting, marcotting, inarching and grafting.

What is cutting? The branch is cut, rooted, and planted.

What is marcotting? This is done on the branch or trunk of the tree


while it has not yet been separated from the
tree.

How about inarching? The branch of one tree is combined with the
branch of another tree placed in the pot.

And lastly, what is grafting? It combines two branches from two trees.

planting ornamental plants using the given
materials. Each group will choose one
representative to present your task.

cutting, group 2 for marcotting, group 3 for
inarching and group 4 for grafting.
