ANSWER KEY DRESSMAKING WEEK 4

Lesson: Obtain measurements

Let’s Apply: Problem Solving

You are planning to sew a small wallet using 1/8 of a yard of fabric.

Question: How would you convert it into inches?

Step 1. Divide 1 into 8 or 1/8 = 0 .125

Step 2. Multiply 0.125 by 36 or (.125* 36) = 4.5

It means that you need 4 ½ inches for your fabric pattern

Note: 36 inches = 1 yard

Answer: 4.5 inch = small wallet

36 yards = 8 small wallets
