• PROVINCIAL ORDINANCE NO. 056-2007, “Ilocos Norte Environmental Code of 2007”

→ was sponsored by the late Mr. Nonong Marcos

→ and aimed to provide a framework of norms, standards, and requirements for the
restoration and sustainability of nature in the province.

objectives, and functions.
Strength: The code clearly defines the scope and authority of the code, providing a

Objectives and purposes of the code:

➢ include promoting the principles of ecologically sustainable development,

➢ protecting the environment and imposing appropriate penalties for acts that
endanger the environment,
➢ and ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of the code

Weakness: Lacks specific details on enforcement mechanisms, monitoring procedures,

and penalties for non-compliance, which could weaken the effectiveness of the code
in practice.
Article II: Rules of Construction

outlined in the provided sources, focuses on the Rules of
Construction. This article establishes guidelines for interpreting
and applying the provisions of the code to ensure consistency in
its implementation.
Strength: Lies in providing clear guidelines on the interpretation and
