The Wise Son

In Africa, in the country of Ghana, there once


lived a man who had three sons. One day, before he
left on a long journey, Mario gathered his sons
around him. He gave each child an egg. “I will be
gone for a long time.” He told his sons. “Use these
eggs to help your mother.” But as soon Mario left,
the two older boys cooked an ate their eggs. The
youngest boy, Elmo, gave his egg to his mother, who
put it under a hen to hatch.
Many months later, Mario returned. The
youngest son prepared a feast to welcome him back
for he had many chickens and many eggs.

Say:” There are many kinds of nouns, but today, let


us focus on the first two kinds of nouns-
Common Nouns and Proper Nouns”.

1.COMMON NOUNS- are used to name persons,


places, things, animals and events in GENERAL. It
refers to class or types of noun without being
specific.

2.PROPER NOUNS- are used to name SPECIFIC


person, place, thing, animal, and event. It always
begin with a capital letter.

Example:

Say: “Look at the examples. The proper nouns


are shaded and common nouns are bold in the
sentences.”

* I would like to visit an old castle. Can we visit
Warwick Castle?
* Ana and Rosa are close friends.
