Discipline/Incentive Policies
Class As a class the students are trying to earn sparkle balls in the jar at the front of the room. If they are not listening, fail to follow directions, or become too noisy jingle the sparkle balls in the jar and take one out. They can earn sparkle balls back with good behavior. Feel free to offer or add as many sparkle balls as you like to reward great choices. We get a class party when we earn all of our sparkle balls. Individual There is a Toad-ally Awesome Behavior Chart hanging from the door by the computers. They are to change a card if they make a poor choice or if they are not respectful (for example talking over you). Students can earn their way back to green if you feel they are really trying hard and have learned from their behavior Please leave me a note if a child changes a card, specifying who and why. Thank you! Hawks Honor Tickets For students who are displaying fabulous Hawk Behavior, being good listeners, following directions, quiet in the halls, etc., please pass out as many Hawks Honor tickets as you like. They will just keep these in their baskets until the end of the day. (I left a pad of mine on the back counter in case you dont have yours.)
Table Incentives Each table has a small chart taped to it. Anytime a table is working hard, being quiet, following directions, etc. you can place a sticker on their chart. You can also tell the students you will give a sticker to the quietest table after an activity to motivate them.
1:30-1:45 Assist in pack up/ reset classroom for next day 1:45-2:35 Specials (go with students) *In case of ANY emergency, please grab the red
bag hanging from the handle outside of the classroom door and take it with you wherever you go! Then, follow the procedures listed below or posted by each exit. Students are to be SILENT for all emergency drills.
Fire Drill: Go out to the front parking lot in a single file line leaving the building through the main entryway doors. Tornado Drill: Move to the hallway and line up underneath my bulletin board and the opposing wall; facing the wall, cover head while kneeling face down on the floor. Earthquake: Students get under tables and cover heads with hands. LOCKDOWN: Yellow Safety Status=All Outdoor activities must remain inside and NO OUTSIDE recess. Red Safety Status= Lockdown! Lockdown! Lockdown! will be announced on the speaker. Immediately go to the door and look in the hall. Grab anyone who is outside in the hall to our room. Then lift up the magnet blocking the lock, so the door will close and lock. Push the large gray cart in front of the door as a barrier and you or the IA shut the blinds and DO NOT open the door for anyone unless it is the principal. The children will go to their assigned lockdown spots around the room and sit quietly to wait for directions. Count them if someone is not in the room due to being in the nurses office, etc. Contact those areas via phone to account for them. Make a list of names of any extra kids you grab from the hallway so that they Monday can also be accounted for.
