ACTIVITY PROPOSAL
TITLE: UNITED NATIONS DAY CELEBRATION 2023
PROPONENT: ARALING PANLIPUNAN DEPARTMENT

RATIONALE
The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945 after the Second World War
by 51 countries committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations
among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights. United Nations
Day continues to be celebrated globally as part of the United Nations Week.
ACTIVITY OBJECTIVES:
This proposal has the following specific objectives:
1. Imbibe the feeling of country love among the young generation;
2. Develop friendly relations among nations;
3. Achieve international peace and security;
4. Appreciate the courage and love to other country; and
5. Achieve international cooperation and being center for harmonizing the actions of nation.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
United Nations Day is celebrated yearly by schools and other institutions. It is a celebration of all
the countries in the world. It is a colorful and fun celebration especially in different schools. Students and
teachers wear the different cultural dress of each country. It showcases the different values and culture of
each country in the world.
In line with this, Pulungmasle National High School will celebrate the United Nation through
conducting different activities; mostly classroom-based on November 23-24, 2023. The facilitators of the
activities are the Apan Teachers and the Young Heroes Club.
A. UN QUIZ BEE
Title: “The Maslean Quiz Bee”
Duration: October 23, 2023, 3:00 - 4:00 pm
Venue: PNHS Covered Court

1. The quiz bee is open to all Bona Fide PNHS Learners.
2. The Quiz Bee is divided of three categories:
Easy Round
Average Round
Difficult Round
3. Each round will have ten questions.
For the Easy Round, every question is worth 1 point
For the Average Round, each question is worth 3 points
For the Difficult Round, each question is worth 5 points
4. The team who will get the highest point after all the rounds will be hailed as The Maslean - Quiz Bee
Champion.
5. Questions will come from subjects; Philippine History, Asian Studies, World History, Economics, and
Current Events. Book references per subject will be announced a month before the competition for this
will serve as the basis of all the questions in the contest.
6. In cases of protest, the proctors will have to present evidences based on the primary sources.

B. SLOGAN MAKING CONTEST (Classroom—Based, Grade 9 students only)
Title: “Slogan Making Contest
Duration: October 23-24, 2023 (during Apan 9 Periods)
Venue: Classrooms
Mechanics
1. The activity / contest is open to all grade 9 students
2. During the contest proper the students would bring the following:
a. short bond Paper
b. Coloring material: oil pastel, markers, ink, mixed media, oil, acrylic and watercolor
(to be provided by the contestant)
c. The poster must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme: “Appreciating Peace &
Promoting Non-Violence: The Role of the UN and Local Youth Movements”
4. The 3 winners’ output will be exhibited on social media.
5. There will be three (3) winners for the contest: 2 nd Place, 1st Place and Champion.
6. The winners will receive Certificate of Recognition and Prizes.

C. CHALK ART (Modern Poster-Making Contest)

Title: “Chalk Art for Unity”
Duration: October 24, 2023, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
Venue: In front of the Female Faculty Room
Mechanics:
1. The contest is open to all Bona Fide PNHS Learners.
2. The poster must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme: “Appreciating Peace & Promoting
Non-Violence: The Role of the UN and Local Youth Movements”
3. Artists are encouraged to bring their own additional water-based chalk, charcoal or pastels, to add
vibrancy, depth, and variety. Artists should also bring their own brushes, water and any other materials or
tools they need. If you need additional colors, you may share or exchange chalk with other artists. We
ask that you return unused chalk.
NOTE: All chalk must be water-based and temporary (no paint, fixatives, or oil-based products).
4. The art created must be suitable for the public. No words, symbols, or caricatures intended as political
statements may appear within the art.
5. Art created must be culturally sensitive and appropriate, respecting the diversity promoted in our
culmination.
6. Participants will have from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm to complete their drawings. All drawings must be
completed by 4:00 pm so that judging can begin right after.

ACTIVITY OUTCOME
This activity will help the students to be aware of various cultures, and how people from different
parts of the world can co-exist. In a way, United Nations Day commemorates the formation of a new era
in history – an era where equality, peace, and cooperation are valued above war.
