United Nations Week starts on October 18 and runs up to October 24 every year. Presently UN is
composed of 193 member states including the Philippines. Its main advocacy is to make discuss problems, find
solutions that benefits everyone and make a one place on Earth where all nations can come together. It was
drafted and signed to create a new International Organization that aimed to maintain international peace,
security, protect human rights, uphold international law as well as extend Humanitarian Assistance.
In collaboration with the UN, our school, Malabiga High School headed by Mr. Raymond G. Lolo with
the active participation of the SSLG, headed by Ms. Lorebeth D. Montilla, conducted activities that will help in
promoting the advocacies of the Un which are, honors Partnership, celebrate Unity and promotes Peace. We
allotted 1 week for the said celebration without having too much class interruptions. On the 1st day of the week,
we conducted a Poster-Making, every grade level is encouraged to join on the said activity. On the 2 nd Day,
Slogan-making and on the 3rd Day, UN Quiz Bee, every grade level should have 3 participants. It was divided
into 3 stages/level, easy, average, and difficult. The winner was the Grade 10, they accumulated a total of 22
points. And on the 4th day of the week, the Culminating activity was done, the parade started at exactly 9
o’clock in the morning, the students flaunt their costumes during the parade and each grade level is assigned to
a country. The students were required to bring their flags and their banners for them to be easily identified what
country are they representing. After the parade, students were permitted to have their snacks before proceeding
with the program. The program started at exactly 9:30 am, it was started with an opening prayer, singing of the
Philippine National Anthem, Opening Remarks, and a message from the School Head. After which, Production
number of the candidates and an Intermission number from the different grade levels. Awarding of the
candidates and the winners for each activity. The candidates were given recognition for their efforts and active
participation during the UN Fashion Show event.
It was successful despite of some difficulties happened during the event. It was also made successful
because of the help of the teachers, SSLG and the Araling Panlipunan Club. Without their efforts and help, the
event could not be made possible.
