INTERVENTION UPDATE for MAY 2012 CREDIT RECOVERY SUMMER SCHOOL 2012 Credit Recovery summer school is scheduled

for July 9 August 3, 2012. This 4-week program will be limited to 16 high school sites geographically located throughout the District. Eight of the summer school sites will offer selected courses online through the Hybrid Online Learning Environment model. Enrollment in credit recovery summer school is restricted and priority will be given students currently in the 12th, 11th and 10th grades. The online application is open at http://summer.lausd.net for summer school School Administrative Assistants and Office Technician assignments. For these positions, the application process will close on June 4, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Please refer to the following documents for specific details: MEM 5687.0 Credit Recovery Summer School 2012 The SSIS summer school screens and calendars will be available at the 16 sites as of April 23rd. Credit Recovery summer school sites have received their preplanning allocations. Each expenditure must be split funded: 67% Program Code 7V391 EIA-LEP and 33% Program Code 7V392 EIA-EDY. All preplanning funds are to be used prior to June 18, 2012. Due: May 21st - The first pre-enrollment Classification Report, AT-74, and Class Enrollment Report , CL 76, R-2 is due in the local district office. CAHSEE INTENSIVE INSTRUCTION PROGRAM (CIIP) REF-5555.0 2011-2012 CAHSEE Intensive Instruction Program Grades 10 to Post 12th Grade and Valenzuela Notification Requirements, dated December 12, 2011 is available on line. Key CIIP Issues: 1. Schools verify the accurate use of (LEP) funds through a 6-hour statistical report. Remember, only LEP students may be served with 7A085 EIA-LEP funds. 2. Schools must submit a final statistical report at the end of each CIIP session. 3. Valenzuela requirements for post-12th grade students include a principal verification which is due June 8. Schools will be instructed by central offices to correct any payroll errors prior to the release of any reserve funds. BEYOND the BELL INTERVENTION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT The Learning Zone offers secondary teachers of English Learners the necessary professional development to teach the Beyond the Bell (BTB) ESL Intervention curriculum materials for intervention. Schools may order BTB ESL teacher guides, student materials and pre-post tests at no cost through Beyond the Bell. Teacher Professional Development on the use of BTB-ESL materials is available as a 5 part training on the Learning Zone at Courses> Course Catalogue>Program Name: Beyond the Bell Branch>BTB-ESL001 to BTB-ESL005. Schools are responsible for teacher training pay. LOCAL DESIGN INTERVENTION Schools must plan for during the day and extended day interventions with their local prioritized funds based upon student data and aligned with their Single Site Plan for Improvement.
