PENGARAH
PUSAT ASASI SAINS



Assalamualaikum w.b.t dan Salam Sejahtera

Selamat datang ke Pusat Asasi Sains, Universiti Malaya. Saya mengucapkan
setinggi-tinggi tahniah kepaa para pelajar kerana telah berjaya meneruskan pengajian
di Pusat Asasi Sains dalam Program Asasi Sains, Asasi Alam Bina dan juga Rancangan
Persediaan Khas (Jepun) bagi sesi 2012/2013.

Program Pengajian di Pusat Asasi Sains, Universiti Malaya memerlukan
komitmen akademik yang tinggi bagi memantapkan pengetahuan asas Sains, Matematik
dan Alam Bina bagi melayakkan pelajar untuk melanjutkan pengajian ke Program Ijazah
Sarjana Muda dalam bidang-bidang yang diminati. Amatlah diharapkan agar para
pelajar akan mengikuti pengajian dengan bersungguh-sungguh untuk mencapai
kejayaan cemerlang. Para pelajar harus sentiasa bersedia dan peka terhadap keperluan
pembelajaran masakini yang sentiasa berubah. Pelajar yang leka hanya akan merugikan
diri sendiri lebih-lebih lagi dalam tempoh pengajian yang pendek dan padat. Pelajar
perlu menetapkan azam dan sentiasa berusaha demi mencapai kecemerlangan
akademik yang berterusan.

Selain tumpuan terhadap akademik, terdapat juga aktiviti-aktiviti pelajar yang
dilaksanakan sepanjang sesi sama ada di peringkat kolej kediaman atau di Pusat Asasi
Sains sendiri. Adalah diharapkan aktiviti-aktiviti ini dapat meningkatkan pembinaan
dan pemantapan jatidiri pelajar untuk melahirkan pelajar yang bukan sahaja cemerlang
dari aspek akademik tetapi memiliki sahsiah diri yang terpuji.

Semoga para pelajar sentiasa berusaha dengan gigih dan memanfaatkan
sepenuhnya peluang pengajian di Pusat Asasi Sains, Universiti Malaya dengan
pengetahuan dan pengalaman berharga.

SEJARAH PUSAT ASASI SAINS


Pusat Asasi Sains telah ditubuhkan pada tahun 1977 di bawah Peruntukan Seksyen 18
Perlembagaan Universiti Malaya yang merupakan satu program pengajian Pra Universiti atau
Matrikulasi.

Perancangan program pengajian akademik di Pusat Asasi Sains meliputi bidang Sains dan
Matematik yang bertujuan untuk melengkapkan pelajar bumiputera dengan pengetahuan asas
sains yang kukuh bagi menyediakan mereka untuk melanjutkan pengajian ke peringkat Ijazah
Sarjana Muda di IPTA.

Sesi pengajian 1977/78 merupakan kumpulan pertama pelajar-pelajar dari program ini yang
telah berjaya meneruskan pengajian ke Fakulti Pergigian, Fakulti Kejuruteraan dan Fakulti
Sains. Mereka telah menerima Ijazah dalam konvokesyen Universiti Malaya pada tahun 1983.
Manakala konvokesyen Universiti Malaya pada 1984 telah menyaksikan kumpulan pertama
program ini yang berjaya menerima Ijazah dalam bidang perubatan.

Sebagai menyahut seruan kerajaan untuk melaksanakan Dasar Pandang Ke Timur, Pusat Asasi
Sains dengan kerjasama Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam dan Kerajaan Jepun telah mengaturkan
satu program khas iaitu Rancangan Persediaan Khas (Jepun) yang dimulakan pada sesi
1982/83. Pelajar-pelajar yang lulus dengan cemerlang akan meneruskan pengajian mereka di
Universiti-universiti Jepun dalam bidang Sains, Kejuruteraan, Pengurusan Perubatan, Pergigian
dan Perniagaan.

Mulai sesi 1988/1989, dua kursus baru telah dilaksanakan di Pusat Asasi Sains, iaitu Program
Pra Perakaunan khusus untuk menyediakan pelajar-pelajar bumiputera ke Fakulti Ekonomi dan
Pentadbiran dalam bidang Perakaunan dan Pentadbiran Perniagaan. Manakala, Program Pra
Inggeris sebagai Bahasa Kedua pula menyediakan pelajar-pelajar ke Fakulti Pendidikan untuk
mengambil Ijazah Sarjana Muda Pendidikan (Pengajaran Bahasa Inggeris Sebagai Bahasa
Kedua).

Pada sesi 1997/1998, Pusat Asasi Sains telah mengkaji semula struktur pengajian untuk
disesuaikan selaras dengan perubahan semasa. Di bawah sistem baru ini, pelajar-pelajar Pusat
Asasi Sains yang mendapat keputusan cemerlang boleh menyempurnakan kursus pengajian
dalam tempoh dua semester. Walau bagaimanapun, pelajar-pelajar yang kurang
berkemampuan diberi kesempatan untuk menamatkan kursus dalam tempoh 3 atau 4 semester.
Antara program-program yang terlibat adalah Aliran Sains Hayat, Aliran Sains Fizikal, Pra
Inggeris sebagai Bahasa Kedua dan Pra Perakaunan. Rancangan Persediaan Khas (Jepun) masih
kekal mengikut struktur pengajian yang lama.

Program Pra Perakaunan juga telah disusun semula bagi membolehkan pelajar-pelajar
dipertimbangkan kemasukan ke kursus Pentadbiran Perniagaan dan Ekonomi. Oleh itu,
program Pra Perakaunan telah diubah namanya kepada Program Pra
Perakaunan/Perniagaan/Ekonomi (Pra PPE). Pada sesi ini program Pra-Undang-Undang dan
Program Pra-Alam Bina juga telah diperkenalkan.

Pusat Asasi Sains pernah mengadakan program kerjasama dengan sembilan buah Institusi
Swasta pada sesi 1998/99. Antara kolej-kolej yang menjalankan program kerjasama ini adalah
Kolej MARA Banting, Institut Maxisegar, IKIP, Kolej Cempaka, Kolej UNITI, Institut Goon, Inpens,
Kolej Matrikulasi Terengganu dan Yayasan Pelajaran MARA Kuantan.

Pada sesi 1999/2000, hampir kesemua pelajar telah ditempatkan di dalam kampus Universiti
Malaya dan sebahagian kecil ditempatkan di Kolej MARA Banting. Program yang dijalankan

pada ketika itu adalah Program Asasi Sains (aliran Sains Hayat dan aliran Sains Fizikal),
Program Pra Perakaunan/Perniagaan/Ekonomi serta Rancangan Persediaan Khas (Jepun).

Pada sesi 2000/2001, hanya Rancangan Persediaan Khas (Jepun) mempunyai pelajar baru
manakala Program Asasi Sains pula menguruskan sebilangan pelajar yang perlu
menyempurnakan pengajian masing-masing dalam semester 3 atau 4.

Pada sesi kemasukan 2001/2002, pengambilan pelajar dibuat untuk Program Asasi Sains Hayat
dan Asasi Sains Fizikal serta Rancangan Persediaan Khas (Jepun). Pelajar-pelajar ini telah
ditempatkan di Kolej Kediaman Kelima untuk pelajar Rancangan Persediaan Khas (Jepun) dan
Kolej Kediaman Kesebelas untuk pelajar Asasi Sains.

Bagi sesi kemasukan 2002/2003, seramai 1,100 orang calon telah berjaya ditempatkan di Pusat
Asasi Sains untuk mengikuti Program Asasi Sains Hayat dan Asasi Sains Fizikal. Pelajar-pelajar
ini serta pelajar Rancangan Persediaan Khas (Jepun) seramai 160 orang ditempatkan di Kolej
Kediaman Kesebelas untuk memudahkan proses pemantauan.

Seramai kira-kira 900 orang pelajar telah ditempatkan di Pusat Asasi Sains untuk mengikuti
Program Asasi Sains bagi kemasukan 2003/2004. Pelajar-pelajar Program Asasi Sains dan
pelajar Rancangan Persediaan Khas Jepun (RPKJ) seramai 180 orang ditempatkan di Kolej
kediaman yang sama.

Mulai sesi akademik 2004/2005, pengajaran dikendalikan dalam Bahasa Inggeris untuk semua
kuliah, tutorial dan amali bagi Program Asasi Sains. Pusat Asasi Sains memberi penekanan
dalam kursus Bahasa Inggeris supaya para pelajar mendapat pendedahan yang sewajarnya bagi
memudahkan proses pembelajaran dengan berkesan. Bagi sesi ini, Pusat Asasi Sains menerima
kira-kira 1000 orang pelajar bagi Program Asasi Sains dan masih mengekalkan pengambilan
pelajar untuk Program Rancangan Persediaan Khas Jepun seramai 180 pelajar. Kesemua pelajar
Pusat Asasi Sains ditempatkan di Kolej Kediaman Kesebelas.

Bagi sesi kemasukan 2005/2006, Pusat Asasi Sains telah menerima hampir 1250 orang pelajar
untuk Program Asasi Sains dan seramai 160 orang pelajar bagi Program Rancangan Persediaan
Khas Jepun (RPKJ). Pada sesi ini, pengendalian kuliah/tutorial/amali pada tahun l untuk
Program Rancangan Persediaan Khas Jepun (RPKJ) adalah dalam Bahasa Inggeris. Pelajar
Program Asasi Sains kekal menginap di Kolej Kediaman Ungku Aziz (Kolej Kediaman
Kesebelas) manakala pelajar Rancangan Persediaan Khas Jepun (RPKJ) ditempatkan di Kolej
Kediaman Dr. Raja Nazrin Shah.

Mulai sesi akademik 2006/2007, Program Asasi Sains telah diserap di bawah Program-program
Matrikulasi atau Program Pra Ijazah di bawah Jabatan Pengurusan IPT, Kementerian Pengajian
Tinggi Malaysia. Sehubungan dengan itu, urusan pengambilan pelajar adalah melalui Bahagian
Pengurusan Kemasukan Pelajar (BPKP), Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia. Bagi sesi ini,
seramai 1,100 pelajar telah diterima masuk ke Pusat asasi Sains bagi Program Asasi Sains.
Manakala bagi Program Rancangan Persediaan Khas Jepun (RPKJ), bilangan pelajar yang
diterima masuk kekal seramai 160 orang pelajar.

Pada sesi 2007/2008, genaplah 30 tahun usia Penubuhan Pusat Asasi Sains. Pada sesi ini, Pusat
Asasi telah menawarkan semula Program Asasi Alam Bina dengan bilangan pelajar seramai 100
orang. Pelajar yang tamat program ini akan melanjutkan pengajian ke Fakulti Alam Bina,
Universiti Malaya dalam bidang Seni Bina, Ukur Bahan, Ukur Bangunan dan Pengurusan Harta

Tanah. Mulai sesi ini semua pelajar Pusat Asasi Sains akan menginap di Kolej Kediaman Raja Dr.
Nazrin Shah.


Pada sesi 2008/2009, Pusat Asasi Sains telah mempunyai seramai 745 orang pelajar yang
berdaftar untuk Program Asasi Sains (Aliran Sains Hayat dan Aliran Sains Fizikal). Manakala
seramai 75 orang pelajar adalah dari Program Asasi Alam Bina.

Pusat Asasi Sains telah mencipta sejarah pada sesi 2009/2010 dengan peningkatan pelajar
paling ramai iaitu 1400 orang pelajar dalam Aliran Sains Hayat dan Sains Fizikal. Manakala bagi
Program Asasi Alam Bina, seramai 120 orang pelajar telah berjaya ditempatkan di Pusat Asasi
Sains.

Pusat Asasi Sains akan kekal dengan pengambilan 1000 orang pelajar bagi Program Asasi Sains
Hayat dan Program Asasi Sains Fizikal dan 100 orang pelajar bagi Program Asasi Alam Bina.
Bagi Program RPKJ pula, seramai 150 orang pelajar telah ditawarkan oleh pihak JPA untuk
mengikuti pengajian di Ambang Asuhan Jepun.

Pada sesi 2010/2011, seramai 1,600 orang telah diterima masuk ke Pusat Asasi Sains bagi
Program Asasi Sains Hayat dan Program Asasi Sains Fizikal. Manakala seramai 110 orang
pelajar telah diterima masuk untuk Program Asasi Alam Bina. Sehingga kini Pusat Asasi Sains,
Universiti Malaya telah berjaya membekalkan seramai 21,723 orang pelajar untuk melanjutkan
pengajian ke Peringkat Ijazah Pertama ke IPTA seluruh Malaysia.

Pusat Asasi Sains telah menerima seramai 1,500 orang pelajar bagi Program Asasi Sains Hayat
dan Program Asasi Sains Fizikal pada sesi 2011/2012. Manakala 100 orang pelajar telah
diterima masuk bagi Program Asasi Alam Bina. Bagi Program Rancangan Persediaan Khas
(Jepun) pula, seramai 101 orang pelajar telah mendaftar pada sesi tersebut.

PENTADBIRAN PUSAT ASASI SAINS

Pentadbiran Pusat Asasi Sains diketuai oleh seorang Pengarah dan dibantu oleh dua orang
Timbalan Pengarah. Bagi memantapkan pentadbiran akademik di Pusat Asasi Sai ns tiga
Bahagian serta satu program yang diketuai oleh seorang Pengerusi Bahagian dan Penyelaras
Program telah diwujudkan. Pensyarah-pensyarah yang mempunyai kepakaran dalam bidang
masing-masing diletakkan dibawah Bahagian di Pusat Asasi Sains mengikut kepakaran mereka.
Selain itu, terdapat 2 orang Penolong Pendaftar dan seorang Penolong Pegawai Tadbir serta
kakitangan sokongan yang turut membantu dalam pentadbiran dan hal ehwal pelajar Pusat
Asasi Sains.

KAKITANGAN PUSAT ASASI SAINS

Pusat Asasi Sains mempunyai 87 orang kakitangan akademik termasuk 2 orang Profesor, 10
orang Profesor Madya dan 5 orang pensyarah kanan, 23 orang pensyarah, 8 orang pengajar
serta 39 orang Guru Bahasa. Sebahagian besar daripada mereka berkelayakan Ijazah Sarjana
dan Ijazah Doktor Falsafah dalam bidang masing-masing.

Dalam pada itu, Pusat Asasi Sains mempunyai 52 orang kakitangan bukan akademik yang
membantu mengendalikan dan memberi khidmat sokongan di Pusat Asasi Sains.

MAKLUMAT PENTADBIRAN PENGAJIAN

1. PINDAAN MAKLUMAT PERIBADI

Pelajar adalah dinasihatkan memaklumkan sebarang pertukaran alamat kediaman atau lain-
lain maklumat peribadi dengan mengisi Borang Pindaan Maklumat Peribadi
(UMF116/2006) yang boleh didapati di Pejabat Am, Pusat Asasi sains dengan segera untuk
pengemaskinian maklumat pelajar. (Sila rujuk contoh borang seperti di dalam Lampiran A)

2. MENARIK DIRI DARIPADA PROGRAM

Pelajar yang ingin menarik diri dari Program Asasi perlulah mengisi Borang Permohonan
Menarik Diri (UMF111/2005) yang boleh didapati dari Pejabat Am, Pusat Asasi Sains
dengan mengemukakan bersama resit pembayaran Yuran Penginapan Kolej Raja Dr. Nazrin
Shah serta salinan dokumen berkaitan. (Sila rujuk contoh borang seperti di dalam Lampiran
B).

3. KEHADIRAN PELAJAR DALAM SETIAP KURSUS

Senat pada 22 Februari 1979 (Min. 1979(4)) telah memutuskan seperti berikut:

(a) BERSETUJU bahawa pelajar Asasi Sains yang tidak hadir lebih dari 10% (tanpa
kebenaran) jumlah semua kelas bagi sesuatu mata pelajaran akan dihalang
daripada mengambil peperiksaan bagi mata pelajaran tersebut. Ini adalah untuk
membolehkan Pengarah Pusat Asasi Sains bertindak mengikut seksyen 22(a)
daripada Akta XIII.

(b) Memandangkan bahawa Akta XLIV dan Peraturan XLIV memerlukan seseorang
calon lulus semua mata pelajaran bagi mana-mana Peperiksaan Semester
sebelum ianya dibenar melanjutkan pelajarannya, BERSETUJU bahawa seorang
calon yang tidak dibenarkan mengambil peperiksaan dalam mana-mana mata
pelajaran di bawah seksyen 22(a) Akta XIII akan dianggap sebagai gagal
Peperiksaan Semester yang berkenaan dan tidak diterima masuk semula ke
kursus.

4. KETIDAKHADIRAN SEMASA SEMESTER

Seseorang pelajar yang tidak boleh menghadiri kuliah/tutorial/amali pada minggu
pengajian hendaklah memohon kebenaran daripada Pengarah Pusat Asasi Sains
menggunakan Borang Permohonan Cuti/Pengecualian daripada
Kuliah/tutorial/Amali(UMF110/2005) dengan melampirkan surat/dokumen sokongan.
(Sila rujuk contoh borang seperti di dalam Lampiran C).

Hanya setelah mendapat kebenaran dari Pengarah, barulah pelajar akan dikecualikan
daripada menghadiri Kuliah/Tutorial/Amali pada tarikh atau masa tersebut.

Sekiranya pelajar tidak dapat menghadiri Kuliah/Tutorial/Amali atas sebab kesihatan, sijil
cuti sakit perlu dikemukakan kepada Pejabat Am, Pusat Asasi Sains Universiti Malaya dalam
tempoh 2 hari untuk direkodkan.

5. STATUS PENGAJIAN

Pelajar yang didapati tidak aktif (tidak menghadiri Kuliah/Tutorial/Amali) tanpa sebarang
alasan dalam tempoh 2 minggu akan ditamatkan pengajiannya di Pusat Asasi Sains.

6. PEPERIKSAAN

Peperiksaan bagi tiap-tiap kursus pengajian adalah ditentukan dalam Akta Fakulti/Pusat
yang berkenaan. Peraturan Peperiksaan adalah dinyatakan dalam Akta XIII dan Peraturan
XIII.

Tiap-tiap pelajar perlu mendapatkan Surat Kebenaran Memasuki Peperiksaan bagi semester
berkenaan dari Pejabat Am, Pusat Asasi Sains atau Seksyen Peperiksaan sebelum ia boleh
dibenarkan menduduki peperiksaan. Tarikh akhir bagi penerimaan Surat Kebenaran ini
akan diumumkan sebelum tarikh peperiksaan. Yuran terlewat akan dikenakan kepada
mana-mana calon yang lewat menghantar permohonannya.

Pelajar yang tidak menduduki peperiksaan untuk mana-mana atau semua kursus atas
alasan perubatan atau perikemanusian hendaklah mengemukakan permohonan bertulis
kepada Pengarah, Pusat Asasi Sains dengan salinan kepada Ketua Penolong Pendaftar,
Seksyen Peperiksaan. Permohonan tersebut hendaklah diserahkan DENGAN SERTA
MERTA atau selewat-lewatnya dalam tempoh tujuh hari dari tarikh satu-satu peperiksaan
berkenaan. Permohonan tersebut mestilah disertakan dengan:

(1) Sijil sakit dan laporan perubatan yang dikeluarkan oleh Doktor Klinik Kesihatan
Mahasiswa atau hospital Kerajaan atau Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya
sekiranya atas alasan perubatan. Sijil Cuti Sakit tanpa laporan perubatan tentang
jenis penyakit calon tidak akan diberi pertimbangan. Sijil sakit dan laporan
daripada klinik/hospital swasta tidak diterima.

(2) Satu laporan daripada Pegawai Daerah atau Pegawai Polis sekiranya atas alasan
perikemanusiaan. Lazimnya alasan perikemanusiaan ini adalah bagi kes-kes
kematian saudara terdekat, kebakaran, banjir dan seumpamanya.

Calon yang jatuh sakit ketika mengambil peperiksaan hendaklah melaporkan DENGAN
SEGERA kepada Ketua Pengawas/Pengawas. Permohonan bertulis berserta laporan
perubatan daripada Doktor Klinik Kesihatan Mahasiswa atau klinik/hospital Kerajaan
hendaklah diserahkan kepada Pengarah Pusat Asasi Sains dengan salinan kepada Ketua
Penolong Pendaftar, Seksyen Peperiksaan DENGAN SERTA MERTA, atau selewat-lewatnya
dalam tempoh tujuh hari dari tarikh satu-satu peperiksaan berkenaan.

STRUKTUR PENGAJIAN PROGRAM ASASI SAINS


1. SISTEM SEMESTER

Jadual semester untuk Program Asasi Sains terbahagi kepada dua semester untuk
tempoh setahun. Di dalam setiap semester terdapat 16 minggu pengajaran, satu
minggu ujian pertengahan semester, satu minggu cuti pertengahan semester dan dua
minggu untuk peperiksaan akhir.

2. TEMPOH PENGAJIAN

Tempoh minimum program pengajian Sains Hayat dan Sains Fizikal untuk melayakkan
pelajar masuk ke fakulti ialah 2 semester (1 tahun ).

3. PENARIKAN DIRI DARI UNIVERSITI

Penarikan diri dari Universiti bermakna penarikan diri daripada program pengajian
yang sedang diikutinya.

4. PENARIKAN DIRI DARI SEMESTER

(a) Penarikan diri dari Semester bermakna penarikan diri daripada kesemua kursus
yang didaftarkan oleh pelajar dalam semester berkenaan. Pelajar yang menarik
diri dalam semester berkenaan dikehendaki mengulang semester tersebut pada
sesi yang akan datang.

(b) Penarikan diri pelajar hanya akan dipertimbangkan atas alasan perubatan atau
alasan yang boleh diterima oleh Lembaga Pusat Asasi Sains.

(c) Penarikan diri atas alasan perubatan, pelajar dikehendaki mengemukakan
permohonan dalam borang khas ke Pejabat Pengarah berserta dengan laporan
perubatan yang lengkap.

(d) Pelajar hendaklah disahkan sihat oleh pakar perubatan yang merawat beliau
sebelum diterima masuk semula pengajian.

5. PENDAFTARAN

(a) Bilangan kredit yang boleh diambil dalam satu-satu semester adalah mengikut
jadual ringkasan struktur kursus yang ditetapkan seperti di dalam Jadual 1 dan
2.

(b) Pelajar dikehendaki mendaftar kursus yang ditetapkan bagi tujuan kemasukan
ke Fakulti di peringkat Ijazah Pertama. Kursus yang diajar bagi program
berkenaan adalah seperti berikut:

ASASI SAINS HAYAT
Biologi, Kimia, Fizik, Matematik, Bahasa Inggeris, Pembinaan & Pemantapan
Jatidiri dan Teknologi Maklumat.

ASASI SAINS FIZIKAL
Sains Komputer, Kimia, Fizik, Matematik, Bahasa Inggeris, Pembinaan &
Pemantapan Jatidiri dan Teknologi Maklumat.

Kandungan kurikulum bagi program pengajian Pusat Asasi Sains adalah seperti
dalam Sukatan Pelajaran Program Asasi Sains Hayat dan Asasi Sains Fizikal.

(e) Setiap kursus yang ditawarkan hendaklah diajar, diselesaikan dan diperiksa dalam
semester berkenaan. Hanya kursus tertentu yang telah mendapat kelulusan Senat
terlebih dahulu boleh dibenarkan untuk dikendalikan bagi tempoh melebihi satu
semester.

6. KEPERLUAN BAHASA INGGERIS

(a) Kursus Bahasa Inggeris yang diajar adalah untuk membantu pelajar mengambil
peperiksaan MUET dengan jayanya dan meningkatkan kemahiran Bahasa
Inggeris pelajar.

(b) Gred yang diperolehi untuk Kursus Bahasa Inggeris tidak akan diambilkira
dalam penentuan PNG dan PNGK bagi rekod akademik pelajar.

7. KURSUS TAMBAHAN

(a) Semua pelajar Pusat Asasi Sains dikehendaki mengikuti kursus tambahan dalam
pengajian berikut:

(i) Pembinaan dan Pemantapan Jatidiri
Kursus ini membantu pelajar menguasai kemahiran asas dalam
pembelajaran yang bertujuan meningkatkan pencapaian akademik
mereka. Penekanan akan diberi untuk pelajar menguasai kemahiran
belajar, belajar secara berkumpulan, problem analysis, problem solving
dan kemahiran berfikir.

(ii) Teknologi Maklumat
Kursus ini membantu pelajar menguasai kemahiran asas dalam aplikasi
Ms Office seperti Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms Powerpoint dan lain-lain.

(b) Gred yang diperolehi untuk Kursus Tambahan tidak akan diambilkira dalam
penentuan PNG dan PNGK bagi rekod akademik pelajar.

8. PENASIHAT AKADEMIK

Setiap pelajar akan diperuntukkan seorang Penasihat Akademik.

Pelajar bertanggungjawab untuk memahami dan memenuhi keperluan-keperluan
kurikulum pengajiannya dan hendaklah berusaha mendapatkan nasihat sewajarnya.
Pelajar dengan Penasihat Akademiknya hendaklah berjumpa apabila perlu untuk
berbincang mengenai program pengajian.

Di samping itu juga bagi membantu pelajar lemah, Pusat Asasi Sains akan
memperkenalkan sistem klinik, di mana usaha-usaha akan dibentuk bagi membantu
pelajar mengatasi secara berterusan kekurangan dalam semua kursus yang diikuti.
Pendekatan baru ini adalah bagi menjamin semua pelajar yang mengikuti pengajian di
Pusat Asasi Sains terus memperbaiki kemajuan akademik masing-masing.

9. PEPERIKSAAN

(a) Peperiksaan kursus hendaklah diadakan pada akhir tiap-tiap semester kecuali
bagi kursus yang telah diluluskan oleh Senat diajar dalam dua semester. Cara
pemeriksaan hendaklah ditentukan oleh pensyarah kursus berkenaan.

(b) Keputusan peperiksaan semester adalah gabungan penilaian berterusan dan
peperiksaan akhir, pembahagian markah adalah seperti berikut:

Penilaian berterusan - tidak melebihi 40%
(termasuk tugasan, projek,
ujian, kuiz, amali dan tutorial)

Peperiksaan - tidak kurang 60%

Atau

Penilaian berterusan - 100%

(c) Kehadiran Kelas

(i) Pelajar diwajibkan menghadiri semua kelas. Adalah menjadi
tanggungjawab setiap pensyarah memaklumkan kepada pelajar tentang
akibat ketidakhadiran dalam kelas. Adalah menjadi tanggungjawab
pelajar memastikan bahawa pensyarah diberitahu tentang
ketidakhadirannya dalam kelas. Pensyarah dikehendaki menyimpan
rekod kehadiran dan melaporkan tentang ketidakhadiran yang
berlebihan kepada Pejabat Pengarah.

(ii) Mana-mana pelajar yang mencapai kehadiran di bawah 90% dalam
mana-mana mata pelajaran tanpa sebab yang boleh diterima atau tanpa
terlebih dahulu mendapat kebenaran Pengarah Pusat Asasi Sains boleh
dihalang daripada mengambil peperiksaan bagi kursus berkenaan.

(iii) Pelajar yang dihalang daripada mengambil peperiksaan bagi kesemua
kursus yang didaftarnya tanpa alasan yang boleh diterima oleh Pusat
Asasi Sains bagi sesuatu semester akan ditamatkan dari pengajian dan
tidak akan diterima masuk semula ke Pusat Asasi Sains.

Gred I diberi apabila:-

- Pelajar tidak mengambil peperiksaan akhir bagi mana-mana kursus dalam sesuatu
semester atas sebab perubatan dan / atau perikemanusian dan gred itu
diperakukan oleh Jawatankuasa Pemeriksa berkenaan; dan / atau
- Sebahagian daripada keperluan kursus masih belum disempurnakan atas alasan di
luar kawalan pelajar yang boleh diterima oleh Jawatankuasa Pemeriksa berkenaan.

Pelajar yang diberi gred I untuk sesuatu kursus tidak dibenarkan mengulang
kursus berkenaan dalam apa-apa keadaan sekalipun sehingga gred I tersebut
digugurkan.

Apabila pelajar lulus peperiksaan khas dan / atau telah menyempurnakan
sebahagian keperluan kursus berkenaan, gred yang diperolehi akan diberi bagi
menggantikan gred I pada semester di mana pelajar mendapat gred I tersebut.


S Memuaskan

Gred S digunakan untuk mencatatkan penyempurnaan kerja bagi kursus-kursus
dengan memuaskan seperti yang telah ditetapkan oleh Senat. Kredit S dikira sebagai
jam sahaja dan tidak diambil kira bagi penetuan PNG pelajar.

U
Tidak
Memuaskan

Gred U digunakan bagi kerja yang tidak memuaskan bagi kursus-kursus yang pelajar
layak mendapat tanda S sekiranya kerja pelajar berkenaan memuaskan. Kredit tidak
diberikan kepada gred bertanda U. Gred ini tidak diambilkira bagi penentuan PNG
pelajar.

Untuk
Audit

Gred ini menunjukkan bahawa pelajar telah mendaftar untuk mengaudit kersus dan
telah memenuhi syarat kemasukan audit yang ditetapkan bagi kursus berkenaan. Jam
kredit tidak diberi untuk gred ini.

Pendaftar tetapi tiada rekod kehadiran atau bukti lain tentang penyertaannya dalam
kursus. Apabila pensyarah tidak mencatat sebarang gred bagi pelajar berkenaan,
Pendaftar mencatat UW dalam rekod pelajar berkenaan. Gred UW seterusnya
diterima sebagai F dalam pengiraan PNG.


10. PERKIRAAN MARKAH KREDIT

PNG (Purata Nilai Gred) dan PNGK (Purata Nilai Gred Kumulatif)

(a) Prestasi akademik pelajar bagi sesuatu semester ditunjukkan oleh PNG dan
PNGK. PNG ditentukan dengan membahagi jumlah mata gred yang diperolehi
dengan jumlah kredit yang diambil dalam sesuatu semester. Kursus-kursus
yang diberi gred bertanda I, S, U, R atau W tidak diambil kira dalam penentuan
PNG dan PNGK.

Contoh Pengiraan PNG:

(b) PNGK ditentukan dengan membahagikan jumlah mata gred yang diperolehi
dengan jumlah kredit yang telah diambil mulai semester pertama sehingga
semester terkini. Gred F tidak diberikan sebarang mata gred walaupun jumlah
kredit yang terlibat dimasukkan dalam pengiraan PNG dan PNGK.

(c) Mata gred dan kredit yang diperolehi dalam mana-mana semester hendaklah
dimasukkan ke dalam perkiraan PNG dan PNGK semester berkenaan.

11. KEPUTUSAN PEPERIKSAAN

SEMESTER I
KEPUTUSAN KETERANGAN
Lulus Belum
Tamat (LBT)
Pelajar dianggap Lulus pengajian Semester 1, apabila lulus semua
mata pelajaran utama dan memperolehi PNGK 2.00 dan lebih.
Lulus Bersyarat
(LB)
Pelajar dianggap Lulus Bersyarat apabila gagal dalam mana-mana
kursus kecuali kursus umum dan mencapai minimum PNGK 2.00.
Pemerhatian (P)
Pelajar dianggap dalam pemerhatian apabila gagal dalam mana-mana
kursus teras dan mencapai PNG kurang 2.00.
GAGAL KELUAR


Pelajar dianggap Gagal Keluar dan diberhentikan daripada program
pengajian apabila memperolehi PNG Semester I, kurang atau sama
1.50.


Pelajar Pelajar dengan keputusan LBT/LB/P, akan menerima transkrip Keputusan
Peperiksaan Akhir Semester 1 Berdasarkan Tiga (3)Mata Pelajaran terbaik (Dengan
Matematik) untuk tujuan Permohonan Kemasukan ke IPTA Fasa 1 (online).


SEMESTER II
KEPUTUSAN KETERANGAN
Lulus Tamat
(LT)
Seseorang pelajar di anggap Lulus dengan jayanya Program Asasi
Sains apabila Lulus semua mata pelajaran utama dan memperolehi
PNGK 2.00 dan lebih.
Lulus Bersyarat
(LB)
Pelajar dianggap Lulus Bersyarat apabila gagal dalam mana-mana
kursus kecuali kursus umum dan mencapai minimum PNGK 2.00.
GAGAL KELUAR
(GK)

Seseorang pelajar dianggap gagal keluar apabila:-

i. Memperolehi PNGK akhir (keseluruhan) kurang 2.00.
ii. Gagal dalam peperiksaan tambahan yang ditetapkan

Pelajar yang Lulus Tamat sahaja akan menerima transkrip Keputusan Peperiksaan
Keseluruhan Sesi berkenaan Berdasarkan Tiga (3) Mata Pelajaran Terbaik (Dengan
Matematik) untuk tujuan Permohonan kemasukan ke IPTA Fasa II (online).

12. PEPERIKSAAN TAMBAHAN

Pelajar dengan keputusan Lulus Bersyarat (LB) yang gagal atau mendapat gred I
(incomplete) dalam mana-mana kursus utama di Semester I atau II, dikehendaki
menduduki Peperiksaan Tambahan yang akan diadakan selepas 2 minggu keputusan
Peperiksaan Akhir Semester II diumumkan secara rasmi. Pelajar akan dimaklumkan
berkenaan Peperiksaan Tambahan secara rasmi melalui surat. Setiap kursus akan di
kenakan bayaran.

13. RAYUAN TERHADAP KEPUTUSAN GRED

Seseorang pelajar yang percaya bahawa terdapat kesilapan pada keputusan
ujian/peperiksaan yang diperolehi pada Ujian Pertengahan Semester / Peperiksaan
Akhir Semester, boleh memohon untuk menyemak semula keputusannya dengan
mengisi Borang Permohonan Menyemak Semula Kertas Ujian / Peperiksaan
(UMF114/2006) yang boleh didapati di Pejabat Am Pusat Asasi Sains Universiti Malaya
(PASUM). (Sila rujuk contoh borang seperti di dalam Lampiran D).

Permohonan semakan boleh dibuat dalam tempoh seminggu selepas keputusan
ujian/peperiksaan diumumkan secara rasmi. Borang rayuan ini akan diserahkan
kepada Pengerusi Bahagian berkenaan untuk tindakan selanjutnya. Sekiranya didapati
bahawa kesilapan telah berlaku, gred yang dipinda akan dilaporkan kepada
Jawatankuasa Pemeriksa dan Seksyen Peperiksaan untuk direkodkan.

14. PENIPUAN DALAM PEPERIKSAAN

Pelajar yang didapati bersalah melakukan penipuan dalam mana-mana peperiksaan
akan diberi gred F bagi kertas peperiksaan berkenaan dan tertakluk kepada Kaedah-
Kaedah Universiti Malaya (Tatatertib Pelajar-pelajar) 1999.

15. PENAMATAN PROGRAM

Pelajar dianggap telah menyempurnakan pengajian dan layak dipertimbangkan bagi
kemasukan ke Program Ijazah Sarjana Muda di IPTA, apabila memenuhi keperluan
berikut:

(i) Lulus semua kursus dan mendapat PNGK sekurang-kurangnya 2.00 pada akhir
pengajian sesi tersebut;

(iii) Menepati syarat keperluan am dan khas kemasukan bagi program pengajian
berkenaan; dan

(iii) Telah menyempurnakan bilangan kredit yang ditetapkan:

Asasi Sains Hayat - Minimum 56 jam kredit
Asasi Sains Fizikal - Minimum 56 jam kredit

COURSE SYNOPSIS





FQAH0111 : CELL BIOLOGY

Cell Structure and Function: Prokaryotes and eukaryotes cells, technique for the study of cell,
cell as basic of life, cell organelles, cell membrane (including hypothesis of Danielli-Davson and
Fluid Mosaic Model by Singer) and transportation through cell membrane.

Chemical of Life: Water, acids, bases, salts minerals, organic compounds, carbohydrates, lipids,
phospholipids, protein, nucleic acid and vitamins.

Enzymes and process of cell metabolism: Chemical reaction of enzymes, Factors affecting the
rate of enzyme reactions, enzyme classification, structure and activation of enzymes.
Respiration and chemical reaction in cells: energy utilization in organism, aerobic and anaerobic
respiration, glycolysis, citric acid cycle, Electron transportation, role and synthesis of ATP
through Chemosmosis Theory.

Cell Division: Mitosis and meiosis; stages and significance of mitosis and meiosis in asexual and
sexual reproduction: abnormal effects in meiosis (Aneuploidy and Euploidy).

Histology: Plants and animal tissues; Classification and function of plant and animal tissues.

At the end of the course, the students are able to:
1. explain the basic concepts of biology: Cell Structure and Function, Chemical
of Life, Enzymes and process of cell metabolism, Respiration and chemical
reaction in cells, Cell division, Histology of plants and animal tissues.
2. solve problems by applying basic biological concepts.
3. apply basic biological concepts through laboratory work.
4. perform various experiments based on the topics taught.
5. develop communication skills through oral presentations and written assignments.

FB0121: ENGLISH FOR MUET

This course is the initial course in improving students English Language prof iciency for
academic purposes and especially in preparing students for the Malaysian University English
Test (MUET). Students will be taught the four language skills, namely reading, listening,
speaking and writing. They will be exposed to a variety of reading texts including non-linear
ones. They will also listen to a variety of texts to help them develop various listening skills.

FB0122: READING IN ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC STUDIES

This course provides a greater focus on strengthening the mastery of reading skills in the
English Language for Academic Purpose. It is designed to prepare students in using the English
Language in their various academic studies at tertiary level. Students will be exposed to a
variety of authentic academic reading texts, as well as to academic and content vocabulary
related to the texts concerned. The course also requires students to carry further reading via
research activities related to their reading topics in class which will culminate in the writing of
speech outlines for paired oral presentations. Further reading is also carried out through the
extensive reading activities which will culminate in group presentations.

STRUKTUR PENGAJIAN PROGRAM ASASI ALAM BINA


1. SISTEM SEMESTER

Jadual semester untuk Program Asasi Alam Bina terbahagi kepada dua semester untuk
tempoh setahun. Di dalam setiap semester terdapat 16 minggu pengajaran, satu
minggu ujian pertengahan semester, satu minggu cuti pertengahan semester dan dua
minggu untuk peperiksaan akhir.

2. TEMPOH PENGAJIAN

Tempoh minimum program pengajian Asasi Alam Bina untuk melayakkan pelajar
melanjutkan pengajian ke Fakulti Alam Bina, Universiti Malaya ialah 2 semester (1
Tahun).

3. PENARIKAN DIRI DARI UNIVERSITI

Penarikan diri dari Universiti bermakna penarikan diri daripada program pengajian,
iaitu pelajar tidak akan meneruskan program pengajian.

4. PENARIKAN DIRI DARI SEMESTER

(a) Penarikan diri dari Semester bermakna penarikan diri daripada kesemua kursus
yang didaftarkan oleh pelajar dalam semester berkenaan. Pelajar yang menarik
diri dalam semester berkenaan dikehendaki mengulang semester tersebut pada
sesi yang akan datang.

(b) Penarikan diri pelajar hanya akan dipertimbangkan atas alasan perubatan atau
alasan yang boleh diterima oleh Lembaga Pusat Asasi Sains.

(c) Penarikan diri atas alasan perubatan, pelajar dikehendaki mengemukakan
permohonan dalam borang khas ke Pejabat Pengarah berserta dengan laporan
perubatan yang lengkap.

(d) Pelajar hendaklah disahkan sihat oleh pakar perubatan yang merawat beliau

(b) Kandungan kurikulum adalah seperti dalam Sukatan Pelajaran Program Asasi
Alam Bina.

(c) Setiap kursus yang ditawarkan hendaklah diajar, diselesaikan dan diperiksa
dalam semester berkenaan. Hanya kursus tertentu yang telah mendapat

kelulusan Senat terlebih dahulu boleh dibenarkan untuk dkendalikan bagi
tempoh melebihi satu semester.

6. KEPERLUAN BAHASA INGGERIS

(a) Kursus Bahasa Inggeris yang diajar adalah untuk membantu pelajar mengambil
peperiksaan MUET dengan jayanya dan meningkatkan kemahiran Bahasa
Inggeris pelajar.

(b) Gred yang diperolehi untuk Kursus Bahasa Inggeris tidak akan diambilkira
dalam penentuan PNG dan PNGK bagi rekod akademik pelajar.

7. KURSUS TAMBAHAN

(a) Semua pelajar Pusat Asasi Sains dikehendaki mengikuti kursus tambahan dalam
pengajian berikut:

Teknologi Maklumat

Kursus ini membantu pelajar menguasai kemahiran asas dalam aplikasi Ms
Office seperti Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms Powerpoint dan lain-lain.

(b) Gred yang diperolehi untuk Kursus Tambahan tidak akan diambilkira dalam
penentuan PNG dan PNGK bagi rekod akademik pelajar.

8. PENASIHAT AKADEMIK

Setiap pelajar akan diperuntukkan seorang Penasihat Akademik.

Pelajar bertanggungjawab untuk memahami dan memenuhi keperluan-keperluan
kurikulum pengajiannya dan hendaklah berusaha mendapatkan nasihat sewajarnya.
Pelajar dengan Penasihat Akademiknya hendaklah berjumpa apabila perlu untuk
berbincang mengenai program pengajian.

Disamping itu juga bagi membantu pelajar lemah, Pusat Asasi Sains akan
memperkenalkan sistem klinik, di mana usaha-usaha akan dibentuk bagi membantu
pelajar mengatasi secara berterusan kekurangan dalam semua kursus yang diikuti.
Pendekatan baru ini adalah bagi menjamin semua pelajar yang mengikuti pengajian di
Pusat Asasi Sains terus memperbaiki kemajuan akademik masing-masing.

9. PEPERIKSAAN

(c) Peperiksaan kursus hendaklah diadakan pada akhir tiap-tiap semester kecuali
bagi kursus yang telah diluluskan oleh Senat diajar dalam dua semester. Cara
pemeriksaan hendaklah ditentukan oleh pensyarah kursus berkenaan.

(d) Keputusan peperiksaan semester adalah gabungan penilaian berterusan dan
peperiksaan akhir, pembahagian markah adalah seperti berikut:

(c) Kehadiran Kelas

(i) Pelajar diwajibkan menghadiri semua kelas. Adalah menjadi
tanggungjawab setiap pensyarah memaklumkan kepada pelajar tentang
akibat ketidakhadiran dalam kelas. Adalah menjadi tanggungjawab
pelajar memastikan bahawa pensyarah diberitahu tentang
ketidakhadirannya dalam kelas. Pensyarah dikehendaki menyimpan
rekod kehadiran dan melaporkan tentang ketidakhadiran yang
berlebihan kepada Pejabat Pengarah.

(ii) Mana-mana pelajar yang mencapai kehadiran di bawah 90% dalam
mana-mana mata pelajaran tanpa sebab yang boleh diterima atau tanpa
terlebih dahulu mendapat kebenaran Pengarah Pusat Asasi Sains boleh
dihalang daripada mengambil peperiksaan bagi mata pelajaran
berkenaan.

(iii) Pelajar yang dihalang daripada mengambil peperiksaan bagi kesemua
mata pelajaran yang didaftarnya tanpa alasan yang boleh diterima oleh
Pusat Asasi Sains bagi sesuatu semester akan ditamatkan dari pengajian
dan tidak akan diterima masuk semula ke Pusat Asasi Sains.

Gred I diberi apabila:-

- Pelajar tidak mengambil peperiksaan akhir bagi mana-mana kursus dalam
sesuatu semester atas sebab perubatan dan / atau perikemanusian dan gred

- Sebahagian daripada keperluan kursus masih belum disempurnakan atas
alasan di luar kawalan pelajar yang boleh diterima oleh Jawatankuasa

(a) Prestasi akademik pelajar bagi sesuatu semester ditunjukkan oleh PNG yang

tidak diambil kira dalam penentuan PNG.

i. Memperolehi PNGK akhir (keseluruhan) kurang 2.00.
ii. Gagal dalam peperiksaan tambahan yang ditetapkan


12. PEPERIKSAAN TAMBAHAN

Pelajar dengan keputusan Lulus Bersyarat (LB) yang gagal atau mendapat gred I
(incomplete) dalam mana-mana kursus utama di Semester I atau II, dikehendaki
menduduki Peperiksaan Tambahan yang akan diadakan selepas 2 minggu selepas
keputusan Peperiksaan Akhir Semester II diumumkan secara rasmi. Pelajar akan
dimaklumkan berkenaan Peperiksaan Tambahan secara rasmi melalui surat. Setiap
kursus akan di kenakan bayaran.

13. RAYUAN TERHADAP KEPUTUSAN GRED

Seseorang pelajar yang percaya bahawa terdapat kesilapan pada keputusan
ujian/peperiksaan yang diperolehi pada Ujian Pertengahan Semester / Peperiksaan
Akhir Semester, boleh memohon untuk menyemak semula keputusannya dengan
mengisi Borang Permohonan Menyemak Semula Kertas Ujian / Peperiksaan
(UMF114/2006) yang boleh didapati di Pejabat Am Pusat Asasi Sains Universiti Malaya
(PASUM). (Sila rujuk contoh borang seperti di dalam Lampiran D).

Permohonan semakan boleh dibuat dalam tempoh seminggu selepas keputusan
ujian/peperiksaan diumumkan secara rasmi. Borang rayuan ini akan diserahkan
kepada Pengerusi Bahagian berkenaan untuk tindakan selanjutnya. Sekiranya didapati
bahawa kesilapan telah berlaku, gred yang dipinda akan dilaporkan kepada
Jawatankuasa Pemeriksa dan Seksyen Peperiksaan untuk direkodkan.

14. PENIPUAN DALAM PEPERIKSAAN

Pelajar yang didapati bersalah melakukan penipuan dalam mana-mana peperiksaan
akan diberi gred F bagi kertas peperiksaan berkenaan dan tertakluk kepada Kaedah-
Kaedah Universiti Malaya (Tatatertib Pelajar-pelajar) 1999.

15. PENAMATAN PROGRAM

(a) Pelajar dianggap telah menyempurnakan Program Asasi Alam Bina apabila
memenuhi keperluan berikut:

(j) lulus semua kursus dan memperolehi PNGK sekurang-kurangnya 2.00
pada akhir pengajian sesi tersebut;

(i) menepati syarat keperkuan am dan khas kemasukan bagi program
pengajian berkenaan; dan

(ii) telah menyempurnakan sebanyak 55 kredit bagi Program Asasi Alam
Bina.

(b) Pelajar layak dipertimbangkan bagi memasukan ke Program Ijazah Sarjana
Muda di Fakulti Alam Bina, Universiti Malaya dalam bidang Senibina,
Pengurusan Harta Tanah, Ukur Bahan dan Ukur Bangunan apabila memenuhi
syarat-syarat berikut:

(i) memperolehi PNGK sekurang-kurangnya 2.75;

(ii) menepati syarat keperluan khas program yang ditetapkan oleh Fakulti
Alam Bina, Universiti Malaya.

FDAB0111: ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

This course will introduce to the studentsthe basic elements of the physical environment, which
are the atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere and their significance of their
interaction in the natural systems. Human are capable of altering the natural system throush
their actions where new processes which are destructive to the environment and pose hazard
and risk to man can result. Selected current global environmental crisis and issues will be
discussed, as well as the governance of environment at various scale.

At the end of the course, the students are able to:

FAAB0182: BASIC DESIGN

The course is an introduction to basic design, with emphasis on using various media to explore
the concept of space and form. Through a series of studies students can learn, understand,
analyse and apply basic principles and elements of design and architecture. Subsequently small-
scale projects will be assigned to apply basic design and architectural theories.

At the end of the course students will be able to:
1. Explain the principles and fundamentals of basic design using the right language.
2. Identify basic design elements such as space, form, line, texture, ornament.
3. Apply principles like scale, proportion, balance, rhythm, in a creative manner in a small-

FB0121: ENGLISH FOR MUET

This course is the initial course in improving students English Language proficiency for
academic purposes and especially in preparing students for the Malaysian University English
Test (MUET). Students will be taught the four language skills, namely reading, listening,
speaking and writing. They will be exposed to a variety of reading texts including non-linear
ones. They will also listen to a variety of texts to help them develop various listening skills.
Students will also be given ample speaking practice to develop their communication and
interaction skills. The course will also develop students writing in interpreting information
from non-linear sources and in essay writing.

At the end of the course, students are able to:
1. Utilise various listening skills.
2. Demonstrate effective oral communication skills, develop reading skills and read
academic texts critically.

FB0122: READING IN ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC STUDIES

This course provides a greater focus on strengthening the mastery of reading skills in the
English Language for Academic Purpose. It is designed to prepare students in using the English
Language in their various academic studies at tertiary level. Students will be exposed to a
variety of authentic academic reading texts, as well as to academic and content vocabulary
related to the texts concerned. The course also requires students to carry further reading via
research activities related to their reading topics in class which will culminate in the writing of
speech outlines for paired oral presentations. Further reading is also carried out through the
extensive reading activities which will culminate in group presentations.

At the end of the course, the students are able to:
1. Apply appropriate reading skills in reading academic texts critically.
2. Use appropriate academic and content vocabulary.
3. Write a speech outline for an oral presentation.
4. Perform oral presentations.

STRUKTUR PENGAJIAN RANCANGAN PERSEDIAAN BAHASA JEPUN
(RPKJ)

1. SISTEM SEMESTER

Jadual semester untuk program Rancangan Persediaan Khas ke Jepun (RPKJ) terbahagi
kepada empat semester untuk tempoh dua tahun. Di dalam setiap semester terdapat
sekurang-kurangnya 16 minggu pengajaran, satu minggu ujian pertengahan semester,
dua minggu cuti semester dan satu minggu peperiksaan akhir.

2. TEMPOH PENGAJIAN

Tempoh pengajian program RPKJ ialah selama dua tahun akademik yang terdiri dari
empat semester, program ini terdiri dari kursus mata pelajaran Sains Fizikal untuk
membolehkan calon mengambil Examination for Japanese University Admission for
International Students (EJU) dan melayakkan pelajar masuk ke universiti-universiti di
Jepun.

3. PENARIKAN DIRI DARI UNIVERSITI

Penarikan diri dari universiti bermakna penarikan diri daripada program pengajian,
iaitu pelajar tidak akan meneruskan pengajian.

4. PENDAFTARAN KURSUS

(b) Gred yang diperolehi untuk mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggeris akan diambilkira bagi
rekod akademik pelajar.

6. PENASIHAT AKADEMIK

Setiap pelajar akan diperuntukkan seorang Penasihat Akademik.

Pelajar bertanggungjawab untuk memahami dan memenuhi keperluan-keperluan
kurikulum pengajiannya dan hendaklah berusaha mendapatkan nasihat sewajarnya.
Pelajar dengan Penasihat Akademiknya hendaklah berjumpa apabila perlu untuk
berbincang mengenai program pengajian.

7. KEHADIRAN

Calon yang tidak hadir tanpa kebenaran sebanyak lebih daripada sepuluh peratus (10%)
daripada jumlah kelas dalam mana-mana mata pelajaran, akan dihalang daripada
menduduki peperiksaan dan tidak akan diterima masuk semula ke program RPKJ.

8. TEMPOH MAKSIMUM UNTUK MENYEMPURNAKAN KURSUS

Calon dikehendaki menyempurnakan kursus ini dalam masa dua (2) tahun yang terdiri
daripada Tahun Satu dan Tahun Dua, dikira dari tarikh pendaftaran permulaan bagi
kursus ini dengan syarat Senat boleh dan dengan perakuan Lembaga Pusat Asasi Sains,
Universiti Malaya memutuskan bahawa sesuatu tahun pengajian tidak dikira sebagai
sebahagian daripada tempoh maksimum yang ditetapkan.

9. PEPERIKSAAN

Peperiksaan tahunan akademik terdiri daripada:

(a) Peperiksaan Tahun Satu yang mengandungi dua bahagian iaitu:
i) Penggal Satu pada Semester I dan
ii) Penggal Dua pada Semester II

skema yang berikut:

Jepun tertakluk kepada syarat berikut:

(i) seseorang calon memperolehi gred E tidak lebih dari dua mata pelajaran
yang ditetapkan;
(ii) satu kelulusan sekurang-kurangnya gred C boleh menebus hanya satu
mata pelajaran gred E;

(iii) sesuatu mata pelajaran yang diambil bagi Peperiksaan Tambahan boleh
ditebus dengan mata pelajaran lain dari Peperiksaan Utama dengan

11. KEPUTUSAN PEPERIKSAAN

(a) Pengumuman Keputusan Peperiksaan

(i) Calon akan diberitahu tentang keputusan peperiksaannya oleh Jabatan
Pendaftar.
(ii) Hanya gred bagi mata pelajaran boleh diumumkan untuk Peperiksaan
Tahun Satu.
(iii) Gred bagi mata pelajaran untuk Peperiksaan Tahun Dua tidak boleh
diumumkan. Keputusan keseluruhannya dalam bentuk lulus atau
gagal.

(b) Tiada calon akan disifatkan sebagai telah lulus Peperiksaan Tahunan melainkan,
ia telah, dalam satu peperiksaan yang sama, memuaskan Lembaga Pemeriksa
dalam semua mata pelajaran yang ditetapkan untuk Peperiksaan Utama.

(c) Tahun Satu dan Tahun Dua

(i) Lulus

Tiada calon akan disifatkan sebagai telah lulus Peperiksaan Tahunan
melainkan, ia telah, dalam satu peperiksaan yang sama, memuaskan
Lembaga Pemeriksa dalam semua mata pelajaran yang ditetapkan untuk
peperiksaan.

(ii) Gagal dan Tidak Diterima Masuk Semula

Calon disifatkan sebagai telah gagal dalam sesuatu Peperiksaan Utama
dan tidak boleh diterima masuk semula ke program sekiranya ia telah
memenuhi salah satu:

(1) Gagal dalam semua mata pelajaran di dalam peperiksaan
berkenaan;
(2) Didapati tidak mendaftar diri untuk peperiksaan berkenaan
melainkan dengan alasan yang boleh diterima oleh Lembaga
Pusat Asasi Sains;
(3) Mendapat gred F bagi markah purata keseluruhan;
(4) Mendapat gred F bagi Bahasa Jepun.

(ii) Lulus Bersyarat

Calon akan dibenarkan mengambil Peperiksaan Tambahan dalam
komponen mata pelajaran yang ia telah gagal dalam sesuatu Peperiksaan
Utama jika ia telah:-

(1) lulus sekurang-kurangnya satu matapelajaran;
(2) mendapat gred E bagi Bahasa Jepun;
(3) mendapat gred E bagi markah purata keseluruhan.

(i) hanya satu Peperiksaan Tambahan sahaja diadakan bagi tiap-tiap

pengajian dan tidak akan diterima masuk semula ke program Rancangan
Persediaan Khas ke Jepun;

(vi) Pelajar yang telah lulus Peperiksaan Tahun Satu dan tidak lulus
Peperiksaan Tambahan Semester III, Tahun Dua boleh dipertimbangkan
oleh Lembaga Pusat Asasi Sains untuk kemasukan ke mana-mana

Training of listening, speaking, reading and writing on the level of basic Japanese.

Oral
Pronunciation, accent and intonation by practicing useful expression as follows: (greetings; self -
introduction, -wa-desu structure; profession; location; time, date, month, numeral classifiers,
asking a favor, ones desire, ability and potentiality).

Reading and Writing
Basic Japanese writing system; introduction to Japanese letters 46 HIRAGANA, 46 KATAKANA;
650 KANJI, simple composition. Some short passages for reading.

Grammar
Particles; conjugation (positive and negative) of adjectives and verbs; motion verbs and verbs of
existence, transitive and intransitive verbs, continuous form, passive voice, causative voice,

At the end of the course, the students are able to:

350 Kanji, composition about 1000 letters long short essays for writing. A half page to 2 pages
(A4) long passages for reading.

Grammar
Intermediate grammar (Complex sentence of causes and reason, purpose, object of action,
correlations etc.), adverb, conjunction.

At the end of the course, the students are able to:
1. Apply their reading skills to understand longer texts that consist of high frequency
language
2. Recognize the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters in longer oral
messages
3. Apply their writing skills to complete simple and clear texts on a wide range of subjects
related to their interests

KEMUDAHAN-KEMUDAHAN DI KAMPUS

Penginapan

Terdapat empat belas buah kolej kediaman yang disediakan oleh pihak universiti. Semua
pelajar Pusat Asasi Sains DIWAJIBKAN tinggal di Kolej Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah seperti yang
diarahkan oleh Unit Penginapan Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pelajar.

Perkhidmatan Kesihatan Pelajar

Pihak universiti juga telah menyediakan perkhidmatan kesihatan di Klinik Kesihatan Pelajar
yang terletak di Kolej Raja Nazrin Shah. Terdapat empat orang doktor yang bertugas yang
memberi perkhidmatan pada setiap hari pada waktu pejabat. Waktu Perkhidmatan Klinik
Kesihatan Pelajar seperti berikut:

Kemudahan Sukan dan Rekreasi

Universiti dan Asrama menyediakan banyak kemudahan seperti padang bola, padang hoki,
gelangang badminton, gimnasium, kolam renang dan pada setiap sesi banyak pertandingan
diatur sama ada diperingkat asrama, universiti atau peringkat nasional. Peralatan sukan boleh
dipinjam dari Pusat Sukan pada bila-bila masa sahaja.

Kebudayaan dan Kesenian

Sebagai sebahagian daripada masyarakat kampus pelajar-pelajar Pusat Asasi Sains boleh
menyertai kegiatan kebudayaan dan kesenian yang dikendalikan oleh Pusat Kebudayaan,

Universiti Malaya. Antara kesenian yang diajar ialah tarian tradisional, seni tampak dan alat
muzik serta senilukis.

Kegiatan kebudayaan banyak diatur oleh pihak Asrama dan Pusat Kebudayaan yang mana
pelajar-pelajar Pusat Asasi Sains boleh melibatkan diri pada masa lapang mereka.

Kemudahan Perpustakaan

Universiti juga menyediakan kemudahan perpustakaan yang mempunyai berbagai jenis koleksi
sama ada sebagai bahan rujukan atau boleh dipinjam. Setiap fakulti/jabatan juga mempunyai
kemudahan bilik bacaan.

Perkhidmatan Kaunseling dan Panduan Kerjaya

Kakitangan Unit Kaunseling dan Kerjaya Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pelajar sentiasa bersedia untuk
memberi khidmat nasihat tentang rancangan kerjaya, termasuk latihan dan peluang pekerjaan.

Mereka juga membantu pelajar-pelajar yang mempunyai masalah dalam pengajian, ketegangan,
masalah peribadi dan keluarga secara sulit dan peribadi. Dari masa ke semasa, unit ini juga
menganjurkan kursus Sistem Pembelajaran Berkesan bagi membantu pelajar-pelajar. Pelajar
yang ingin bertemu kaunselor boleh berbuat demikian pada waktu pejabat.

Pusat Asasi Sains telah melantik seorang penasihat bagi setiap orang pelajar. Pelajar yang
mempunyai masalah boleh berunding dan mendapat nasihat mentor masing-masing. Di
samping itu, semua kakitangan Pusat Asasi Sains sentiasa bersedia membantu pelajar yang
datang meminta bantuan.

TATASUSILA PAKAIAN DAN PENAMPILAN DIRI PELAJAR

Pusat Asasi Sains telah menetapkan bahawa semua pelajar berdaftar di Pusat Asasi Sains hanya
dibenarkan memakai pakaian berikut sepanjang minggu Haluansiswa dan sewaktu mengikuti
pengajian di Pusat Asasi Sains (termasuk semasa berurusan di pejabat).

Pelajar Lelaki

1. Kemeja berlengan pendek/panjang dan bertali leher
- Kemeja hendaklah dimasukkan ke dalam seluar.
2. Seluar panjang/Slack.
- Seluar jeans tidak dibenarkan.

Pakaian selain daripada yang dinyatakan tidak dibenarkan.

Pelajar Perempuan

1. Baju kurung/Baju Kebaya/Baju Kebarung sahaja.

2. Pelajar dimestikan memakai Lab-coat semasa didalam makmal.

Yang Tidak Dibenarkan

1. Semua pelajar tidak dibenarkan memakai yang berikut:
(a) Selipar ini termasuk semua jenis selipar, capal dan sandal
(b) Kemeja T (T-shirts)
(c) Jeans
(d) Topi/Cap
(e) Sarung tangan
(f) Apa-apa pakaian yang menutup semua atau sebahagian muka
(g) Pakaian yang tidak sopan dan tidak sesuai dengan keadaan

2. Semua pelajar lelaki tidak dibenarkan berambut panjang.
3. Rambut hendaklah sentiasa disikat kemas.
4. Hanya kasut bertutup dibenarkan di dalam makmal. Selipar dan sandal tidak
dibenarkan.

PERINGATAN

Pusat Asasi Sains berhak menghalang pelajar daripada mengikuti kelas pengajaran jika didapati
pelajar tidak mematuhi tatasusila pakaian yang tersebut di atas. Tindakan tatatertib akan
diambil pada bila-bila masa juga jika didapati pelajar ingkar dengan peraturan yang ditetapkan.

1. JAWATANKUASA BERSAMA PUSAT, PELAJAR DAN PENSYARAH
Pelajar Pusat Asasi Sains juga digalakkan mengambil bahagian dalam kegiatan bukan
akademik bagi membantu meningkatkan kemahiran berfikir, jatidiri dan sahsiah mereka.

Jawatankuasa Bersama Pusat, Pelajar dan Pensyarah (JBPPP) adalah jawatankuasa yang
terdiri daripada pelajar dan kakitangan yang mengatur kegiatan pelajar dari masa ke
semasa. Ahli-ahli terdiri dari pelajar yang dipilih dikalangan pelajar sendiri pada tiap-tiap
