ASSOCIATION INTRODUCTION The News Broadcasters Association (NBA) represents the private television news & current affairs broadcasters.
It is the collective voice of the news & current
affairs broadcasters in India .It is an organization funded entirely by its members The NBA has presently 14 leading news and current affairs broadcasters (comprising 34 news and current affairs channels) as its members.

To oppose the proposed Content Code and
Broadcast Regulation Bill of the Information & Broadcasting Ministry, the news broadcasters in India have joined their hands to form the News Broadcasters Association (NBA).
The association is headquartered in NEW
DELHI. Its has been registered as a Section 25 company under the Companies Act, 1956.

VISION OF NBA To help create & nurture an environment in which news broadcasters can best serve audiences and also engage with policy makers on behalf of its members in order to promote an industry grounded in the principles of democracy and freedom of expression. This initiative will help to further promote the broadcaster's role as an important contributor to the country's cultural, social and economic fabric. According to NBA secretary-general , the association has been set up to help create and nurture an environment in which news broadcasters can best serve audiences and contribute to the development and diversity of the country. The NBA would engage with policy-makers on behalf of its members to “promote an industry grounded in the principles of democracy and freedom of expression”. It has already been engaging with the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on the draft Broadcasting Regulatory Authority of India Bill and proposed Content Code. NBA Frames CODE OF CONDUCT FOR TV The News Broadcaster’s Association (NBA) has submitted to the central government, code of ethics and broadcasting standards, in order to improve the quality of broadcasting on Indian Television. NBA has submitted two principal documents to the govt “CODE OF ETHICS & BROADCASTING STANDARDS” & NEWS BROADCASTING STANDARDS” Regulations. The self-regulation proposals to the government includes that no news should be selected to or designed to promote any particular opinion, belief or desires of any interest group. The channels, according to the code of ethics, should maintain objectivity and impartiality in reporting. On the recent sting operation controversy, the proposal states that as a guiding principle, sting and undercover operations should be the last resort of news channels to give a viewer comprehensive news coverage of any news story. The document also contained that crime and violence should not be glorified in the country. There is a restriction on portraying sex and nudity on the channels and clauses for depiction of violence against women and children. The news channels are also expected to maintain neutrality and to ensure that charges against anyone are not portrayed as an act of guilt.
