BROADCASTING STANDARDS” & NEWS
BROADCASTING STANDARDS”
Regulations.
 The self-regulation proposals to the government
includes that no news should be selected to or
designed to promote any particular opinion,
belief or desires of any interest group. The
channels, according to the code of ethics, should
maintain objectivity and impartiality in reporting.
On the recent sting operation controversy, the
proposal states that as a guiding principle, sting
and undercover operations should be the last
resort of news channels to give a viewer
comprehensive news coverage of any news
story.
 The document also contained that crime and
violence should not be glorified in the
country. There is a restriction on portraying
sex and nudity on the channels and clauses
for depiction of violence against women
and children. The news channels are also
expected to maintain neutrality and to
ensure that charges against anyone are not
portrayed as an act of guilt.
