ABOUT THE PROJECT

AWARD: 1st prize in invited international design competition
The design integrated buildings and landscaped together
a ring of individual structure connected by a large ridged
rooftop. With this roof, spaces between the building can
be used as multifunctional, semi-covered learning spaces,
activity zones, and flow areas, all of which diffuse into the
central and outer landscaped areas.

Overall, the Smart School complex will accommodate


1,040 students from age 3-18years and over 400
professional staff members as well as cultural, leisure and
health centers which are accessible to the public because
the school will have a minimum of 15% of the student
body reserved for orphans and children with limited
physical capabilities.

The site will additionally contain a special settlement,


where orphaned children live with their foster families.

Irkutsk is situated in a landscape of rolling hills within the thick taiga that is
typical in Eastern Siberia
CLIMATE OF SITE
Irkutsk has extreme variation of
temperatures between seasons. It can
be very warm in the summer, and very
cold in the winter. However, Lake Baikal
has an effect due to which temperatures
in Irkutsk are not as extreme . The
warmest month of the year is July, when
the average temperature is +18 °C
(64 °F), the highest temperature
recorded being +37.2 °C (99.0 °F). The
coldest month of the year is January,
when the average temperature is
−18 °C (0 °F), and record low of
−49.7 °C (−57.5 °F). Rainfall also varies
widely throughout the year, with July
also being the wettest month, when
precipitation averages 113 millimetres
(4.4 in). The driest month is February,
when precipitation averages only 7.6
millimetres (0.30 in). Almost all
precipitation during the Siberian winter
falls as flurry, dry snow.
THOUGHT WHILE DESIGNING
The main thought to develop a school is to combine modern society with
elements of nature. The school focuses on giving the platform to explore the
modernisation under the roof of nature. It gives student to use nature as a
energy source filling the gaps between modern, nature and their effects.

The school is learning platform
encouraging the different people
to learn. With different people
come different brains. Every
individual requires different space
for learning. Each individual has
their own style of learning some
require an intimate space while
some require a social space to
learn. With this ideology the
architecture modifies providing
ever individual their own style
method way to learn gather
information explore and live up to
their happiness.

The school architecture effects the


learning process of individual
giving a comfort to mind and effect
every arena of mind to give a
soothing effect to student
refreshing and comforting them.
CONCEPT- UNITY WITH SEGREGATED SPACE

The school provides


with different blocks
giving individuality. All
blocks united under one
roof gives the exposure
of every part. At same
time it gives students to
learn and explore under
privacy or to explore
with interaction
according to their
comfort.
The prime goal of
modern architecture is
to combine the modern
with learning each
element of individuals
brain.
INTRACTION ZONE
The circular way gives different blocks connecting different area of mind.
The student finds their learning ability giving their best results. It helps in
easy transition between buildings and gives a easy access to different
axis of brain. The central area gives the common space for interaction.
The each block in circular transition gives intimacy and provide with
exploration learning.
