places of worship.
• TURBAN (DASTAR or PAGRI)

- is worn by the
Sikh community
of India. It is a
symbol of faith
and values such as
honor and
spirituality.
Sculpture and Carvings
• MATHURA BUDDHA
- the most
important art in
India is sculpture. It
is good to note that
Indian sculpture is
used mainly as
decoration.
• One famous example
is the famous Buddha
figure found in
Mathura, India. This
city has been the seat
of sculpting the
Buddha for a very
long time (2 BCE – 6
BCE).
• Another popular
sculpture is the
statue of Ganesha,
the Hindu god of
light and festivals,
which is plated with
gold sheet. This
statue symbolizes
reverence for life.
