Technical Description Liner Hanger
 Surface Cementing Equipment
 Equipment that will drop cementing plugs or balls,
and facilitates key operations at surface.
 Drill String
 Carry the liner to setting depth and ensure a path
for hydraulic operations
 Liner Top packer W/Extension F/Tie back
 Provides the profile necessary for the Setting Tool
and the extension for Tieback Seals
 Liner Hanger
 Anchors the liner string into the casing
 Pack-Off
 Seals the Drill String in the Liner
 Setting Tool
 Hydraulic or Mechanical Tool that connects the Drill
String to the Liner
 Liner Cementing Plugs & ball
 Displace Cement in Drill Pipe and Liner and ensure
hydraulic sealing ,
 Liner Shoe Track
 Landing Collar and Float Equipment

General Running Procedure

Run, Circulate the liner to bottom.

Drop Setting ball and apply pressure to set the Liner Hanger
Slack-off the liner weight to confirm if the hanger is set.
Slack-off weight onto drill pipe and release the running tool.
Increase pressure to extrude ball seat through.
Pick-up to verify release of the running tool.
Slack off to counteract piston force during cement job.
Rotate the liner assembly as required in preparation of cementing.
Displace cement and drop the Pump Down Plug.
Pick up the string to require distance to expose the dog sub prior to set the Liner Top Packer.
Begin rotating (if required) and slack off to set the packer.
Pick up the string to neutral and apply annular test pressure to test the packer.
Pressure up and pick up to release the RS Bushing.
Place the bottom of the running tool above TOL and reverse out the excess cement

Key Challenges

• Liner stuck while running (stuck by differential hydrostatic)

• Losses while running liner

• High pressure while circulating

• Difficulties to set liner

• Difficulties to release the running tool

• Losses while cementing

• Final bump not observed

• Well control problem while running

8
Key Opportunities

• The use of Reamer shoe to facilitate the liner Run in Tight holes

• Use a delayed opening ball seat in case of formation integrity

problem

• Use the integrated feature of liner hanger Rotation while cementing

for better cementing job.

9
Good Practices

• Discuss the contingency plan in advance

• Perform wiper trip if excessive drag is observed.

• Circulate sweeps. Repeat if necessary, Get rid of Cuttings / Loss

circulation material.

• Optimize the centralizers Program to avoid wellbore problems

• Hold a pre-job meeting to ensure rig crew knows what we are running
and what is important to keep an eye on.

• Optimize the centralizers Program to avoid wellbore problems

10
Support

• Provide the necessary information regarding the

well and client look head.
• Coordinate the liner job preparation two weeks in
advance to prevent any delivery delay.
• ensure a accurate well cleaning and wiper trips
for easier job run .
• Ensure to get the required equipment for the job
on site (DP x-overs )
