PREHISTORIC AGE
- Life was simple compared to
how we live now.
- This was the period when the
medium of communication
was through oral language
primarily
Communication was limited to a particular
group only.
Early people developed the sounds to make
meaningful messages to one another.
The primitive people created sounds and
symbols to refer to the material world around
them.
- If one analyses the Filipino language, the
original language would reflect the
culture of early people.
Example:
bahag or G string for (male)
tapis (female)
(Spanish Period)
Examples: Food Preparation:
- long skirts or saya
- laga, ihaw, tuyo, daing, tinapa,
- loose blouses or kimono,
- chimese or kamison - Gisa (Spanish)

Media were focused through oral communication.
INDUSTRIAL AGE
 Started in England and other European countries in the
18th Century.
- British started travelled by train, storytelling became part
of their travel.
- Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer became
significant it is used for storytelling while travelling.
- Marked the use of iron and steel.
- New energy sources were used including fuel and
motive power like coal, the steam engine,
electricity, petroleum and the combustion
engine.
- There was an increase in the application of science
in this age.
 Primary industries like agriculture, forestry, fishing,
mining, quarrying, extraction of minerals used the
different discoveries in science.
 The manufacturing industry was the secondary
industry that was developed. Different products were
produced from processed goods. Energy producing
industries like hydroelectric industry and construction
were fully utilized.
 Tertiary Industry afterwards. Service industry, banking,
finance, insurance, investment, real estate services,
wholesale, retail, transporation, information,
communication services, professional, and education
promoted and provided the full development of the
industrial age. Education became mass based.
