Abstract
•To study the importance of floating column in the analysis of
building using E tabs.
•Considered (G+7) storey with floating columns at each storey level.
•Alternate location are considered for study.
•Seismic performance of building with various floating columns
location is compared with respect to various parameters.
•Zone considered IV & V and soil considered is medium soil.
•Effect of base shear, time period, roof displacement were analysed.
Conclusion

• Parameters like base shear, roof displacement and storey drift is

less in zone IV compared to zone V.
• Abrupt change in storey drift where flating columns are provided
in particular column.
• Analysis shows that is vulnerable to provide floating columns in
bottom storey.
• Seismic performance improve with shifting of floating columns
storey to higher level.

Abstract
• The RC building provided with floating column with lateral bracing is
analysed.
• The building with floating columns after providing bracings showed
improvement in the seismic performance.
• Effect of base shear, time period, roof displacement were analysed.
• Considered multi-storey rigid jointed plane frame, zone v and medium
type soil(type 2).
• G+10 storey.
Conclusion
• Storey drift, storey shear, time period and displacement with floating
columns performed poorly under seismic excitation.
• Bracing improved seismic performances by 10% to 30%.

Abstract
• To analyse G+10 with floating columns in different locations (Rcc)
• Investigate the base shear & drift between floating columns located
in outer periphery(4 sides & 2 sides) Using staad pro.
• G+10
Case1- floating columns located at outer periphery(4sides).
Case2- floating columns located at outer periphery(2 longer sides).
Case 3- floating columns located at outer periphery(2 shorter sides).
• To determine storey drift base shear and comparing the results.
Conclusion
• Failure of floating column(case 2) is more than floating column(case
3)
• In case 2 and case 3, column shears values are increasing or
decreasing upon position and orientation of column.

Abstract
• To analyse a beneficial parameters like lateral displacement and
storey with waft inside the multistorey building with waft inside
having columns with and without shear partition under seismic
excitation.
• Considered 8 storeys, 12 storeys & 16 storeys with zone v
Conclusion
• By proving shear walls strength upto 70% problem is solved for
seismic point of view.
• Safe for zone 5, 3 & 4.
• By providing shear wall at the junction makes it total stable in lateral
displacement and storey drift.
