ANALYTIC GEOMETRY
Analytic geometry is a branch of algebra that is used to model geometric
objects like a points, lines, and circles being the most basic of these. Analytic
is a great invention of Descartes and Fermat.

A. Line is a geometrical object that is straight, infinitely long and infinitely

thin. Its location is defined by two or more points on the line whose
coordinates are known.
B. A circle is a plane figure bounded by one curved line, and such that all
straight lines drawn from a certain point within it to the bounding line,
are equal.

Parabolic

•• Parabolic general equation

• Parabolic equation with the peak point O (0,0) and the fokus point F
( p,0)
y = or = 4px

• Parabolic equation with the peak point O (0,0) amd the focus point F
(-P,0)
= -4px
Problems example

1.   Equetion of the line through the point (2,-7) and perpendicular to
4x – 3y + 8 = 0 is…..
Answer :
gradient = = Because it is perpendicular then . = -1
= -1 =-
y - = (x - ) y + 7 = - (x – 2)
4y + 28 = -3x + 6
3x + 4y + 22 = 0
so, the line equation is 3x + 4y + 22 = 0
