INTRODUCTION
• The Carpentry Shop provides various
carpentry related services including custom
fabrication of cabinetry, desks, and counter
tops, installation of floor tile, ceiling tile,
doors, drywall, windows and computer
workstations.

• Mallet: It is used to drive the chisel. Hammer


should not be used for driving the chisel, as it
may damage the chisel handle. Also mallet
applies the light blows as against heavy single
blow by hammer.
Claw hammer
It has a striking flat face at one end and the
claw at the other. The face is used to drive
nails into wood and for other striking
purposes and the claw for extracting large
nails from wood.
Pincer: It is used for pulling out
small nails from wood.
Wood rasp file
• It is a finishing tool used to make the wood
surface smooth, remove sharp edges and
finish fillets. Sharp cutting teeth are provided
on its surface for this purpose. This file is
exclusively used in wood work.

Carpentry joints or wood joints
• Wood joints : Figure shows commonly used
joints in carpentary. The strength of the joint
depends upon amount of contact area. If a
particular joint does not have much contact
area, then it must be reinforced with nails,
screws or dowels.
