Definition

Adverb is a word used to modify a verb, adjective, or another adverb.


Classification of Adverbs

1. Adverb of Manner
2. Adverb of Time & Frequency
3. Adverb of Place
4. Adverb of Degree
5. Adverb of Negation or Affirmation
Adverb of Manner

Adverb of Manner answers the question how or in what manner. It usually describe a verb.
(Quickly, beautifully, angrily, perfectly, loudly, sharply, slowly, happily, etc.)

Example:
1. You Must drive your car carefully
2. She smiles happily
Adverb of Time & Frequency

Adverb of time & frequency tell us about the time of the action. These answer the question
when, also show ‘how often’ something happens.

Example:
Demonstrative Pronoun

Demonstrative pronoun is used to point out things, places, and people. (This, these,
that, those)

Example : 1. This is a pen


2. That is an apple
Relative Pronoun

■ Introduce a clause or part of a sentence that describes a noun (Which, who, whom,
whose, that)
Example : She is the girl, whom I love.
The man who is standing in front of the class is an Indonesian.
Interrogative pronoun

Interrogative pronoun is used to ask question. (Who, whom, whose, what, which)
Example: 1. Who are you?
2. To whom did Ashley go for help?
Indefinite Pronoun

Indefinite pronoun refers to any of all of a group of persons, places, or things.

Example: Everyone needs money.


Reciprocal Pronoun

Reciprocal pronoun expresses a mutual action or relationship. (One another, each other)
Example: 1. They love each other
2. Good people help one another to succeed.

Assessment

Last evening, I helped my mom to cook dinner. We carefully cut the vegetables and slowly
placed them into a boiling pot of water. Next, mom quickly browned the chicken and
patiently let it cook through. I eagerly waited for my next job, which was to gently sprinkle
spices into the soup. But, I accidentally poured in too much cumin. I quietly
told my mom my mistake, and she sweetly told me, as a child, she had coincidently made
the same mistake.
