Lines
• A line is defined as a line of points that extends infinitely in two
directions. It has one dimension, length. A line is defined by two
points and is written with an arrowhead. A part of a line that has
defined endpoints is called a Line Segment.

Planes
• A plane extends infinitely in two dimensions. It has no thickness. An
example of a plane is a coordinate plane. A plane is named by three
points in the plane that are not on the same line.
Example:
Plane ABC A
B
Rays
A ray starts out at a point and continues off to infinity. We can show
that by drawing an arrow at one end of the ray.
Example:
Ray AB A B

Parallel Lines
• In geometry, parallel lines are lines in a plane which do not meet;
that is, two straight lines in a plane that do not intersect at any
point are said to be parallel.
C
Example:
Line AD ll CB A
D
Colinear Points
• Collinear points means points that all lie in the same line, whether
they are close together, far apart, or form a ray, line segment, or
line.
Example:

Coplanar Points
• Coplanar points are three or more points which lie in the same
plane. Recall that a plane is a flat surface which extends without
end in all directions.
Example:
