PATIENT SET-UP
Pressure Control
In all mechanical Pressure Controlled Modes, the
PIP knob is activated and can be set to limit the peak
inspiratory pressure for each breath.

Adjust the mandatory flow to achieve a quick rise to the

inspiratory target pressure and ideal pressure waveform. Adjust
inspiratory time to achieve a patient-compatible inspiratory
phase with adequate exhalation time. Set Intermittent
Spontaneous Flow (Spont. Flow) to achieve maximum comfort
level for spontaneous breathing.
E150pptcy0606 REV. A 19
NEWPORT BREEZE
PATIENT SET-UP
Alarms
Low Pressure Alarm functions in mechanically assisted modes
only*. Activated if the Low Pressure Alarm limit is not passed
during the inspiratory time of a mechanical breath.
* The Low Pressure Alarm setting is
also used to determine the Low
CPAP Alarm setting when
appropriate.
High Pressure Alarm Functions in all modes. Activated if the patient's
peak pressure reaches the High Pressure Alarm limit. The Breeze
automatically switches to exhalation.

NEWPORT BREEZE
PATIENT SET-UP
Alarms
Apnea Alarm Functions in all modes.
 Receives information from the Trigger Level indicator and the mandatory
breaths.
 Activated if interval between any two breaths (spont. or mandatory)
exceeds chosen delay time.
 Adjust the Trigger Level so that the Patient Effort Indicator lights with
each patient inspiration.
 During the Spont. Mode, The Apnea Alarm delay may be set in the "Low
CPAP Alarm" position. This disables the Trigger Level as a sensor for
spont. effort and enables the Low Pressure Alarm as a Low CPAP Alarm.

Alarm Silence

 Silences patient-related alarms for 60

seconds.
 Red indicator remains flashing until the
condition is corrected.

Non-Patient Related Alarms
 Cannot be silenced with the Alarm Silence Button.
 Continuous ventilator alarm indicates electrical or
mechanical system failure.
 Continuous mixer alarm indicates low inlet gas
pressure for either air or oxygen.
