What is Valve?

Mechanical devices specifically designed to direct, start, stop, mix

or regulate the flow, pressure or temperature of a process fluid.
Manufactured from various materials, mostly made from steel,
iron, plastic, brass, bronze and special alloys

Globe Valve’s Info.
 Typically used for cooling water systems,
transporting fuel oil and turbine lube oil
systems.

 It is classified as linear motion valve used

to stop, start, and regulate the flow.

 It becomes the world’s most common

types of valves.
Globe Valve
Globe valves are named for their spherical body shape. The valve is divided into

general area which is the actuator and the body that separated by a baffle with a disc 2

in the center. Globe valves operate by screw action of the hand wheel. They are used for

.applications requiring throttling and frequent operation

. Note: the baffle restricts the flow

Development of Globe valve
only a relatively small
actuator force is needed for
positioning the valve plugs.
This makes the double-
ported globe valve suitable
for high pressure
applications.
The double-ported valve
arrangement produces
almost balanced force on
the valve stem.

Angle Valves
Angle Valve
is a simple modification of
the basic globe valve.
Fluid is able to flow
through with only a single
90° turn and discharge
downward more
symmetrically than the
discharge from
A particular advantage of
the angle body design is
that it can function as both
a valve and a piping elbow.
.Y-body angle globe valve

for the high pressure

Y-body globe valves are
best suited for high
pressure and other
severe services valves.
It’s actuator is hydraulic
or manual.
Gate Valve
Gate Valves
A gate valve is a valve that opens by lifting a round .

 Gate valves are sometimes used for regulating flow,

but many are not suited for that purpose, having been
designed to be fully opened or closed.

 When fully open, the typical gate valve has no

obstruction in the flow path, resulting in very low
friction loss
Gate Valve
I. The gate is usually wedge
shaped. When the valve is
wide open, the gate is fully
drawn up into the valve,
leaving an opening for flow
through the valve the same
size as the pipe in which the
valve is installed.
II. Therefore, there is little
pressure drop or flow
restriction through the valve.
I. Gate valves are not suitable for throttling purposes
since the control of flow would be difficult due to valve
design and since the flow of fluid slapping against a
partially open gate can cause extensive damage to the
valve.
Typical Usage of Gate Valve
Flow control valve for large size gas & city water line.

Pump suction valve.

Pump discharge valve.

 Block valve for control valve.

 By-pass valve for emergency shut-down valve.
