One o f th e most familiar commercial and shopping centers i n Metro Manila is Cubao in Quezon City. I t is strategically located i n t h e crossroad o f t h e t w o
o f th e busiest main roads and commuter t ra i n routes o f Metro Manila: EDSA and A uro ra Boulevard. Situated i n t h e center o f Cubao is t h e iconic
landmark Araneta Coliseum (n o w named Smart Ara neta Coliseum).

The A ran eta Center is a h u b o f retail, entertainment, residential, hospitality, and office developments t h a t sees an estimated 1,000,000 visitors daily.

The Araneta Center is a 35-hectare commercial area situated in Cubao, Quezon City.

It straddles the crossroads o f t w o major roadways, EDSA and Aurora Boulevard, giving visitors
an unparalleled access t o the North–South and East– West corridors of Metro Manila. It also
provides commuters a strategic link between t w o major tr ain systems, the MRT–3 and LRT–2.
Today, the Center has 2,108 tenants in over 1.1 million square meters of shopping area. Its
current count of 20,000 BPO employees is projected t o rise t o 100,000 in the ne x t f e w years
w i t h eight hectares primed f or high-tech office spaces for technology-based companies.
• Socorro is a barangay located in Cubao in t he t h ir d district of Quezon City, Philippines.
As o f 2010 census, i t has a population of 21,747 people. It is home t o Araneta Center
and Smart Araneta Coliseum, one of the largest indoor arenas in t he wor ld.
• I t was established o n November 6, 1961, pursuant t o city ordinance no. 61-4883, signed
and issued by Norberto S. Amoranto, t hen mayor of Quezon City. It was created as a
barangay o n September 21, 1974, pursuant t o Presidential decree no. 557 of President
Ferdinand Marcos, 'declaring all barrios in the Philippines as barangays'. By the enactment
o f Republic Act No. 7160 (Local Government Code), the barangay was given more powers,
duties, and responsibilities as the most basic government unit.

Aside f r o m t h e tons of private-owned vehicles t h a t
passing t h r o u g h Cubao, various types o f public
u t i l i t y transport systems are also present i n t he

Cubao MRT station
Due t o its location a t Araneta Center, t h e station is located i n a
major transp ortation hub. Provincial buses stop a t t h e Ara neta
Center Bus Terminal w i t h i n t h e complex, and jeepneys f o r various
destinations all over Metro Manila and Rizal province, taxis and
cycle rickshaws are available u p o n request. Traffic regulations,
however, p r o h i b i t cycle rickshaws o n EDSA and Au rora Boulevard.
I t is connected t o its namesake station o n t h e Line 2 via a w a l k w a y
t h a t goes t h r o u g h t h e N e w Farmers Plaza, past t h e Smart Araneta
Coliseum and t o t h e station's entrance just outside t h e Gateway Mall.
Cubao LRT station
The station is t h e e i g h t h station f o r trains headed t o Santolan and
t h e f o u r t h station f o r trains headed t o Recto.
Araneta Center–Cubao station serves as t h e terminus o f t h e line.
The station layout is composed o f three platforms: The t w o main
platforms serve t h e entire system (Eastbound and Westbound) and
an extra plat f orm serves as a terminus. The extra p lat fo rm is f o u n d
under t h e main platforms where t h e concourse area can also be
found.
I t is connected t o its namesake station via a wa l k w a y t h a t goes
