PACKED COLUMN WITH DIFFERENT TYPE OF PACKING

ABSTRACT
In this poster we try to explained “packed column and different types of packing” which are may
be use in the most of industry that deal with different separation processes such as Absorption ,
stripping and distillation . main internal parameter of packed column is packing. There is
different types of packing available in market which are made from different materials such as
ceramic , metals , plastic etc. packing are dividing in two types that are random packing and
structural packing . we explain in detail that all packing in this poster.

 Construction
 Packed tower is a continuous contacting equipment.
In internal of tower packing support , liquid and gas
distributors and demister etc. are taking place.
 Generally , shell of packed tower made from FRP ,
ceramic materials or any suitable material.

 Working
 In packed tower the liquid is distributed at the top of
the packing and trickles down through the bed.
 The gas is fed at the bottom it flow up through the
void space of the bed and comes in packing surface as
a film.
 The packing material is held on the support plate
having provision and gas discharge from bottom.
