•Transmission is the one department of our company where the
assembly of gear system, assembly of brake and assembly of rear
axle is done for tractor.
•We are working in this department. So we can learn about gear
transmission system, brake system, etc.
•In this stage, we understood below points:
1. How the tractor is running in variation speed.
2. Which types of gears are used in gear box.

Information about gear system of
tractor

•It is gear box. In this different gears are assemble in the body.
•It is connected with each other for transmission the motion to the
wheel.
•This photo shows the different gears which are bevel and helical
gears used in the assembly of trance cage.
•In this stage spur gears, helical gears are used.

Transmission Assembly
•Transmission assembly deals with assembling of all the sub-
assemblies into the transmission case.
•The rack of cleaned transmission case are brought and first of all
magnetic drain plug is mounted on it.
•After that various assemblies is done as follows:

Bevel pinion and Spline shaft fitment

•At first, the bearings for the spline shaft and lay shaft are hammered
into the transmission case.
• After this the spline shaft is hammered through the bearing- Next
step is to insert the bevel pinion shaft into the transmission case and
the cluster gear is mounted onto the spline shaft.
• This can get attached into the sprockets of spline shaft and transmits
the power

Reverse idler gear

•Reverse idler gear is used to reverse the direction of rotation of the
output shaft.
•In this the reverse idler shaft is inserted into the reverse idler gear,
which is supported by the Needle Reverse Bearing (NRB).
•After this the reverse idler gear is mounted onto the transmission
case and the reverse idler shaft hangs it.

Ley shaft assembly

•The fully assembled lay shaft from the sub-assembly line is brought
to the transmission assembly line.
•After that it is inserted into the transmission case and hammered
through the bearing.
•Also it is made synchronous with the spline shaft.
•After this the retainer along with the bearing is inserted at the end
of the counter shaft.

Rail assembly

•At first gear shifting rail is inserted and on which gear shifting fork
are inserted and locked by use roll pipe, and pin slotted spring,
making sure the proper fitment of fork in between in the gears on
spline shaft.
•Next the range shifter shaft is inserted to support the gearshift
leaver and range shift leaver connected as its end.
• Next connecting link and gear shifter shaft are attached.

•The forks are then connected with the cam gear shifter.

•After this the transmission cover is bolted with gasket in between.

•After this it is moved for the differential assembly mounting.

PTO (power take off) housing

•Power take off stand for power take off.
•First of all coupling shaft is inserted on the bearing, which connects
the power take off shaft and the lay shaft.
•Now the power take off assembly is mounted on the transmission
case in such a way that the power take off driving shaft fits the
coupling shaft.

•After this the power take off shaft leaver is mounted with power take
off plate clamping shifter shaft and power take off cam assembly.
•Proper locking and working of the shifter is ensured, at the end it is
made sure that the power take off main shaft is at its proper location
with bearing support.

Transmission drive shaft and clutch
housing

•In this step the transmission drive shaft is coupled along with the lay
shaft under the bearing support.
•Next step is to mount the clutch housing assembly from which drive
shaft is passed.
•Proper locking of the housing is done using bolts.

Rear axle carriage sub assembly

•Rear axle sub assembly is taken and it is fitted on to the transmission
case in such a way that the driving gear teeth of the axel matches
with the bull pinion spur gear teeth.

•For both the RH and LH rear axle similar assembly is done and the
body is moved further for its assembly.

Brake assembly

•In brake assembly first of all the brake sub assembly is made.
•In sub assembly the friction lined disc assembly and actuating disc
pair are fitted in the brake housing after this the breather pipe is
mounted at the top of the brake housing.
•Next, the brake assembly is mounted on to the respective bull cage
and fitted after the application of the sealant.

•First fit the transmission testing fixture with transmission clutch
housing by two bolts and nuts.
•Fit the dummy cover of VTU on trans-cage.
•Fill up the MOX-30 in trans-cage. Start the transmission testing
motor in clock-wise direction.
•Check the transmission running of all gears. (30 seconds)
•Apply the brake on gears and check the performance of brake.

•Check the normal noise of gears.
•Check the oil leakage in joints of trans-cage.
•Punch the serial number of transmission.
•This photo is shows the pressure of oil in trans-cage and flow rate of
oil.
•Reading of transmission leakage testing machine:
•Flow: 8.8 ml/minute
•Pressure: 0.091 bar

Clutch assembly

•The rack of cleaned clutch housing from the cleaning department is
brought to the transmission department.

•After this the clutch sleeve is mounted on to the clutch housing.

•After that clutch fork and clutch shaft release is mounted using
spring to have spring back action in the clutch pedal.

•Bearing is also inserted so as to support the clutch sleeve.

•Bottom of the clutch is covered with the metallic plate with gasket in
between to ensure the proper fitment of the plate.

Very touch unite assembly

•Now the VTU assembly is fitted on the top of the transmission case
after the application of the sealant.
•After this for trial the oil is filled into the transmission and checked
for leakage.
•Then after the drive shaft is rotated with the help of motor and the
proper shifting of the gears are checked.
•Also the brake action checked.
•After the transmission oil drained off through the magnetic drain
plug.
