Pronunciation is not easy to learn by the
students where English is foregn English. Students
sometimes make mistake in pronouncing English
words. They pronounce some English words the
same as what is written.
The researcher uses instructional
pronunciation video as a form of utilization of
technology to help student to improve their
pronunciation.
Is there any significant effect of using
Instructional Pronunciation Video on Students’
Pronunciation at SMAN 4 Sampolawa?
3 Objective of the Study
The objective of this study is to know whether
there is a significant effect of using Instructional
Pronunciation Video on Students’ Pronunciation at
SMAN 4 Sampolawa.

4 Significance of the Study
1. Teacher
As a useful information source for the English
teacher in developing appropriate learning strategies
and adding variety in teaching particularly in teaching
pronunciation.
2. Students
Increase student motivation and interest in
following the process of learning English. Then, by
using Instructional Pronunciation Video can improve
their pronunciation.
3. Other researchers
As an additional information and also reading
source for the further researchers who want to carry out
an investigation of teaching pronunciation.
The scope of this study is limited to the use of Instructional
Pronunciation Video in improving students’ pronunciation, focused on
the students’ English short vowels, long vowels, and diphthongs.
6 Hypothesis
H0- There is no significant effect of using Instructional Pronunciation
Video on Students’ Pronunciation
H1- There is a significant effect of using Instructional Pronunciation
Video on Students’ Pronunciation.
7 Definition of Term
1. Pronunciation is the most important oral communication skill (Fraser,
2000).
2. Instructional Pronunciation Video consists of videos of native speaker
who pronounce correct sounds and words with visual displays of the
articulatory movements in pairs, and the tongue placement diagrams of
the different sounds (Shak, Chang & Stephen, 2017)
