PROCEDURE TEXTS
are texts that tell us what to do in steps.
Usually we use these procedure texts when we
want to make something, when we want to use
or fix something.
The General structure of the procedure text :

• The first part is the GOAL, it is about

what you want to do.
• The second part is THE MATERIALS, or
what you need to create the finished
product.
• And finally, the last part is THE STEPS,
or what you need to do to get to the
goal.
Language Features :

In a procedure, it is common to use the simple

present tense in the form of imperative.
Imperative sentences are used to tell people
how to do things or give instructions.
To do so, start instructions with the infinitive.
Imperatives also come in positive and negative
commands.
Positive tells you to do something while
negative tells you not to do something.
Imperative Sentence

Example of Positive Imperative:

• Wash some rice in cold water
• Drive it carefully
• Switch on your computer
Example of Negative Imperative:
• Don’t step on that!
• Don’t speak during the test!
• No touching!
Printing Document in MS. Word

difficult thing actually.  We only need
some steps to do. The steps are :

• Write or copy and paste what you want

on Microsoft Word or anything like
that.

• Save what you have created.

• In the corner, you will see a piece of

paper or "Print" button. You will need
to click this in order to print your
work.
• Make sure your computer is connected
to the printer, there is several pieces of
paper inside it, and that the printer is
plugged in and turned on.

• Put on how many copies you want.

• Press on the "Print" button and wait for

a few seconds/minutes and you're done.
