SUMMARY OF CHAPTER 19

Jonas starts to talk with Giver about the twin that his father
was releasing that day. The Giver frowns; he wishes they
wouldn’t release the twin but Jonas defends the community.
Jonas then says he wishes to watch the release. The Giver
tells him he could watch the release if he wants to. It’s in his
rule that he gets to ask questions to anybody. So, the Giver
requests his Attendant and a video tape was pulled up on a
screen. As they watch the video Jonas keeps making
comments and the Giver, who knows what’s up, keeps telling
him to be quiet. Jonas watches his father giving the lighter
baby a lethal injection to a vein in the forehead and then
realization hits him that his father has killed a infant. Then The
Giver tells that he watched the tape of Rosemary’s release,
except he turned away before she injected herself.
